After a week, as usual, we bring you our regular roundup of Apple-related speculation. This time, after a long time, we will mention Macy in it. According to the latest reports, it seems that the Cupertino company could equip future models of its computers with a chip with the function of ultra-broadband connection. For a change, the second part of the article will talk about a headset for virtual or augmented reality.

Macs and ultra-broadband

Among the functions that (not only) iPhones have is the so-called ultra-wideband connection (ultrawideband - UWB). This type of connection is ensured by U1 chips in Apple smartphones, which ensure the full functioning of AirTags, the possibility of relatively accurate localization of Apple devices and other functions related to location. In the course of the past week, they appeared on the Internet news about it, that some Macs could also have ultra-broadband connections in the future. This is evidenced by the latest beta version of the macOS 12 operating system, which contains some features that require an ultra-broadband connection to operate and function. It is not yet clear when (or if) Apple will start equipping its computers with chips with the UWB function.

AR/VR headset support in iOS

There has been speculation about the possible release of a device for virtual or augmented reality in connection with Apple for quite some time, and there are also various evidences that the implementation of the aforementioned headset is indeed planned. The most recent example such proof is the first public and developer beta version of the operating system iOS 15.4. A number of interesting new features appeared in the code of these beta versions, such as an API to support AR / VR headsets on websites. According to the theories of many analysts, the arrival of devices for virtual or augmented reality is approaching. The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo let himself be heard at the beginning of last year that we could expect an AR / VR headset from Apple's workshop next year at the latest. But smart glasses from Apple are also in the game - according to Kuo, the company could introduce them in 2025.
