It looks like the new terms of use of the WhatsApp platform, which have been in the works since the beginning of this year, will not have the impact on users as originally expected. A number of users have already decided to say goodbye to WhatsApp due to these conditions, while others expected that if they did not access them, the functions of the respective application would be gradually restricted. But now it appears that WhatsApp has finally decided not to be so strict with users. In the second part of our summary today, we will talk about the social network Twitter - it seems that it is going to introduce new Facebook-style reactions to its tweets.

WhatsApp will not limit your account unless you agree to the terms of use

Practically since the beginning of this year, one of the widely discussed topics has been the communication platform WhatsApp, or the new conditions of its use. It is precisely because of them that many users decided to switch to competing applications even before they came into force. The aforementioned terms went into effect on May 15, and WhatsApp released a rather detailed message to mark the occasion about what to expect for users who don't agree to the terms - essentially, a gradual throttling of their accounts. But now it seems that WhatsApp management has again changed its stance on these measures. In a statement to TheNexWeb, a WhatsApp spokesperson said that based on recent discussions with privacy experts and others, WhatsApp management has decided that it does not currently plan to limit the functionality of its apps for those who choose not to agree to the new terms of use. . "Instead, we will continue to remind users from time to time that an update is available," it says in the said statement. At the same time, WhatsApp also updated your support page, to which it now states that no limitation of the functions of the respective applications is (yet) planned.

Is Twitter preparing for a Facebook-style backlash?

The social network Twitter has recently been adding a number of interesting changes. Some are of greater scope and importance – for example audio chat platform Spaces, while others are rather smaller and inconspicuous. The expert Jane Manchun Wong published an interesting report on her Twitter account late last week, according to which Twitter users could see another new feature in the near future. This time it should be the possibility to respond to tweets with the help of emoticons - similar to what is possible, for example, on the social network Facebook. Wong substantiates his claim with photos, on which we can see image reactions with captions such as Haha, Cheer, Hmm or even Sad. Facebook introduced the possibility of reactions with the help of emoticons already in 2016, but unlike it, Twitter is unlikely to offer the possibility of an "angry" reaction.

In this context, TheVerge server stated that the reason may be the fact that anger can be expressed on Twitter simply by replying to the given tweet, or by retweeting it. The fact that the mentioned reactions could really be available in the foreseeable future is also evidenced by the fact that the creators of Twitter recently conducted a survey among users, asking them about their opinion on reactions of this type. In addition to the new reaction options, there is also talk of an option in relation to Twitter the introduction of a paid premium version with bonus features.
