Not everything always works as it should, and products and services from the famous Microsoft are no exception in this regard. Users of the Microsoft 365 platform have recently experienced an outage in their Outlook email service. In addition to this unpleasant event, in our today's summary of the day we will also look at, for example, the new VR headsets from HTC or the YouTube platform, which decided to start financially supporting the creators of shorts.

HTC and news for virtual reality

At the beginning of this week, HTC presented its two new headsets for virtual reality – HTC VIVE Pro 2 and HTC VIVE Focus 3. HTC VIVE Pro 2 VR glasses offer, among other things, 5K resolution, the ability to smoothly adjust the eye distance and perfect balance. In addition, the HTC VIVE Pro 2 headset is also characterized by a comfortable attachment system, thanks to which it can be used even for a longer period of time.

VIVE Pro 2 glasses will be available from the first half of August for 37 crowns and will offer compatibility with all Vive SteamVR accessories. The VIVE Focus 490 headset is equipped with integrated speakers with transducers for each ear, offers improved ergonomics and noticeably higher wearing comfort. Its price will be 3 crowns, and it will go on sale in the second half of June this year. HTC VIVE Focus 37 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR590 chipset and equipped with a powerful system that prevents overheating.

Outlook crashes

Microsoft confirmed this week that there was a massive outage in its Outlook email communication service. A number of users around the world had to deal with the inability to load e-mail messages due to the outage, but this was not the only error that occurred within Outlook - it also involved, for example, problematic display of some fonts or missing parts of the text in e-mail messages.

At the time of writing this article, it was not clear what was actually the cause of the mentioned outage, but experts from Microsoft started working on fixing the error almost immediately. A little later, Microsoft thanked its users on its Twitter account. At this point, all Microsoft services should work without any problems.

YouTube is investing in short videos

The management of the streaming platform YouTube decided this week that it will invest a total of one hundred million dollars in its Shorts feature. This is a service that allows users to add short videos to YouTube in the style of TikTok, which YouTube also wants to compete with in this way. The financial amount is to be used primarily for the purpose of paying creators, who can receive a certain financial reward based on views and engagement. YouTube seems to see quite a lot of potential in its short videos, which is why its creator has decided to fund them really generously as part of the greatest possible motivation and is also trying to engage some famous names from TikTok for its platform. Although the TikTok application faces a lot of criticism, at the same time it is very popular with many users, so it is not surprising that other social platforms have also borrowed its functions. In addition to the aforementioned YouTube, there is, for example, Instagram, which introduced short videos called Reels.
