After the holiday break, we bring you a morning summary of the events of the past day. In its first part, we will talk about the popular gaming platform Roblox, which announced this week that it is entering into a partnership with the music label Sony Music Entertainment. Another event that should not escape your attention is the departure of Jeff Bezos from the leadership of Amazon. Bezos' position will be replaced by Andy Jassy, who until now led Amazon Web Services.

Roblox partners with Sony Music Entertainment

The popular online gaming platform Roblox this week inked a deal with Sony Music Entertainment. The two entities have already worked together - as part of the previous agreement, for example, a concert by the popular singer Lil Nas X was organized in the Roblox environment - and the newly signed agreement is an extension of the existing cooperation. The partnership was announced in an official press release, and one of the goals of the newly agreed collaboration is to innovate in the field of music experiences in the Roblox environment, as well as offer new commercial opportunities for Sony Music Entertainment. So far, however, no more concrete plans and events have been announced, which should arise from the new partnership. A Roblox spokesperson went on to say that the platform is discussing partnership opportunities with other music publishers as well.

The Roblox platform is seen as controversial by some people, but it is really popular, especially among younger users, and has seen very significant growth over the past few years. In May of this year, the creators of Roblox boasted 43 million daily active users. But Roblox also had to face negative reactions, and not only from the public. For example, the National Music Publishers Association sued the platform for allegedly promoting piracy. This was allegedly done by users uploading and sharing copyrighted music within Roblox. In the mentioned official statement, Roblox also stated, among other things, that of course it respects the rights of all creators, and that it checks all recorded music content with the help of advanced technologies.

Jeff Bezos is leaving the head of Amazon, to be replaced by Andy Jassy

After twenty-seven years spent at the head of Amazon, which he founded in July 1994, Jeff Bezos has decided to officially resign as its director. He is succeeded by Andy Jassy, who was previously in charge of Amazon Web Services. For the first time in its history, Amazon will have a new CEO. Andy Jessy joined Amazon in 1997, not long after graduating from Harvard Business School. When Amazon Web Services was launched in 2003, Jessy was tasked with leading that division, and in 2016 he officially became its CEO. Amazon is currently not very clearly received by the public. Financially, the company is clearly doing well, but it has been facing criticism for a long time due to the working conditions of many of its employees, especially in warehouses and distribution. Jeff Bezos will continue to be involved in the various activities of his company, and according to his own words, he also wants to devote more time and energy to other initiatives, such as the Day One Fund or the Bezos Earth Fund.
