Monday's summaries of events are usually not very dramatic, and our summary today will not be an exception in this regard. In its first part, we will talk about the discounted package of Google Chromecast devices and Google Stadia remote game controller, in its second part, we will focus on the Internet phenomenon called Rickroll.

Google and the Chromecast + Stadia bundle

Relatively recently, Google offered the option to buy a bundle of the Google Stadia Controller and Chromecast 2020. It was a limited offer at the time, and you can no longer officially get this particular combination. But the 9to5Google server at the end of last week pointed out an interesting fact. Google has once again bundled the Google Chromecast device with a gaming remote and is selling the combination as a "Play and Watch" package. The price of the bundle is $99, which means a savings of $19 compared to buying each of the mentioned products separately. Google offers an ethernet adapter for Chromecast as a recommended product. The official Google e-shop with the relevant products is still not in operation in our country, but it is possible that the aforementioned driver package and the latest generation of Chromecast devices will appear at one of the domestic electronics retailers.

A billion views for Rick Astley

Few of us have probably never heard of the phenomenon called Rickroll. This is a joke where people subtly send each other links to video clip by Rick Astley to Never Gonna Give You Up, while ideally the other party should have no idea that this particular clip is involved. It is thanks to the worldwide popular "rickrolling" that the mentioned video clip can now boast of crossing the record mark of one billion views on the YouTube website. Rick Astley himself is quite active on social networks, and upon crossing the mentioned milestone, he expressed himself in the comments on YouTube or perhaps on his personal Instagram.

With one billion views, Rick Astley's legendary song cannot yet be compared to other hits, which can sometimes boast up to seven times the number of views. But this is an interesting proof that not all Internet memes have a long life. For Rick Astley himself, this composition, which dates back to the second half of the eighties of the last century, is quite a good source of income. To mark one billion views of the Never Gonna Give You Up video, the singer released a limited edition 7″ vinyl of the hit. All records were immediately hopelessly sold out.
