If you thought that the world of technology would let you take a break from the news related to the competition of the Clubhouse application for a while, then unfortunately we will have to disappoint you at least in today's article. The popular discussion server Reddit is also preparing an audio chat platform. In addition to this matter, today we will also talk about the cooperation between Facebook and Spotify on an integrated player for the Facebook application.

Reddit released Clubhouse competition

It seems like most major companies have decided to compete with Clubhouse in one way or another lately. Alongside Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, the discussion platform Reddit has now also joined the ranks, presenting its own audio chat program called Reddit Talk, and moderators of individual subreddits can already start submitting requests for access to this service. Reddit recommends that the Reddit Talk service be used for programs such as "Questions and Answers", "Ask Me Anything", but also for lectures or serious community discussions. Moderators will be able to start a new audio discussion and invite other speakers to participate as well.

It will be possible to listen to Reddit Talk on both iPhones and smart mobile devices with the Android operating system. Listeners will be able to react via emoticons during the broadcast, there will also be a function to raise your hand, after which listeners can be invited to the virtual stage. Moderators will also have an overview of how many karma points those who have signed up have. According to the available screenshots, Reddit Talk looks like a more colorful version of Clubhouse, while here we can see a lot of graphic elements typical for Reddit. Unlike Clubhouse, it looks like Reddit Talk will have more control from the creators over what topics are discussed. Users will appear here under their reddit nickname and avatar.

Facebook and Spotify project

Facebook and Spotify will soon join forces to allow users to listen to their favorite music while using the Facebook app. Did you think this was already possible simply by running Spotify in the background? Both giants have slightly different plans. According to the latest reports, it should basically be an audio player that will be directly integrated into the Facebook application. This will allow users to control playback in Spotify without having to leave the Facebook app. The whole project has the working name "Project Boombox" for now. The fact that Facebook and Spotify should start working together has been talked about for a long time, but until now these speculations have been circulating mostly in connection with podcasts. In the foreseeable future, Facebook plans to release several of its own audio products, including an audio chat application in the style of Clubhouse and a podcast service. However, the podcast service is not excluded in any way with the aforementioned integrated Spotify player in the Facebook application. Collaborations between various companies on many fronts are not unusual recently, so it is quite likely that the partnership between Facebook and Spotify will eventually have two levels - an integrated browser and the mentioned podcast service.
