Despite the current decline in electronics sales in general, the technology sector is undoubtedly the dominant industry. After all, if you are reading these words right now, you are surely doing so via some electronic device, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. But the companies producing these technologies are also among those that pollute the planet Earth the most. 

This is definitely not an ecological campaign, how everything goes from 10 to 5, how it's 5 in 12 minutes or how humanity is headed for destruction. We all know it, and how we react to it is a lot up to us. Electronic devices have become an integral part of our lives, and the information and communication technology sector accounts for more than 2% of global greenhouse gas emissions. So yes, of course we have only ourselves to blame for the current heat and fires.

In addition, it is estimated that by 2040 this sector will account for 15% of global emissions, which is equivalent to half of global transport emissions, despite the fact that, for example, Apple claims to be carbon neutral by 2030. In 2021, we also produced an estimated 57,4 million tons of e-waste worldwide, which the EU wants to tackle with, for example, uniform charging connectors. But certainly none of us will stop using iPhones and Macs or buy new ones just to make future generations better off. That's why this burden is taken on by the companies themselves, which are trying to be a little greener. 

They also properly announce it to the world so that we all realize it. But the problem is that if something in this respect, be it ecological, political or otherwise, does not work out for them, they will get "eaten" pretty badly. Thus, these topics should be taken for granted, and not those "neutralities" constantly promoted. If, instead of every ecological PR article, its author took a garbage bag and filled it with those around him, he would surely do better (yes, I have a clear plan for an afternoon walk with the dog, try it too).

TOP of the greenest technology companies in the world 

In 2017, the Greenpeace organization evaluated 17 technology companies in the world in terms of their impact on the environment (detailed PDF <a href="https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1932/8043/files/200721_ODSTOUPENI_BEZ_UDANI_DUVODU__EN.pdf?v=1595428404" data-gt-href-en="https://en.notsofunnyany.com/">here</a>). Fairphone took first place, followed by Apple, with both brands receiving a B or at least B- rating. Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft were already on the C scale.

But as ecology becomes an increasingly important topic, more and more companies are trying to be seen and heard, because it simply shines a good light on them. E.g. Samsung has recently started using plastic components made from recycled sea nets in its smartphones and tablets. Is it enough? Probably not. This is also why he gives, for example, significant discounts on new products in exchange for old ones, including here. Just bring him a phone of the given brand and he will give you a redemption bonus for it, to which he will add the real price of the device.

But Samsung has an official representative here, while Apple does not. That's why Apple doesn't offer similar programs in our country, even though it does, for example, in the home USA. And it's quite a pity, not only for our wallet, but also for the planet. Although he presents how his recycling machines work, he does not offer our residents the possibility of "using" them.
