A SHAtter exploit discovered by a former member of the Chronic Dev Team will probably have another use. We informed you about this exploit here, as a way to jailbreak iOS 4.1 for all iDevices, but now more interesting information is coming to light.

Yesterday, a video appeared on the Dev Team blog, which I certainly don't need to introduce, showing the use of the SHAtter exploit in action. In this case, it's an iPod Touch 4G jailbroken using the new beta version of the Pwnage Tool.

Although the release date of this tool to the public is not yet known, today we were able to learn an interesting news directly from MuscleNerd. This new exploit, it seems, won't only be applicable to the devices we know about. MuscleNerd confirmed that this year's Apple TV can also be jailbroken with its help, as it runs on a modified version of iOS 4.1.

It will be interesting to see what Apple does about this exploit. This is not a bug that could be fixed by any new patch, because it is a hardware bug.

It will also be interesting to see what the jailbreak community will be able to achieve with the Apple TV. Let us be surprised. Of course, we will inform you in time.
