Apple developers work honestly on beta versions of new operating systems, so even in the fifth test builds of iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, we can find many new features and changes. These are changes in the user interface, the behavior of some functions and others.

iOS beta 8 5

  • The Health app now also collects spirometry data. Spirometry measures lung function by recording a person's breathing and testing their ability to inhale and exhale. The application also received several new icons, the ability to export health data and the ability to display important information on the lock screen.
  • A new menu pops up in iOS 8 to enable the SMS Relay function, as one part of Continuity was named, which allows MacBooks with OS X Yosemite to use a given phone number to retrieve SMS messages on a computer as well.
  • Photos show when you last synced with iCloud, and you can set original photos to be kept on iCloud while optimized and reduced images are downloaded to your iPhone to save space.
  • The iCloud Drive, Backup and Keychain features have received new icons.
  • Right on the keyboard is a button to turn text prediction on/off.
  • In Settings, the brightness control slider has been removed from the wallpaper selection section, it now has its own section in Settings introduced in the previous beta.

OS X Yosemite Developer Preview

  • System settings have undergone minor graphical changes.
  • Launchpad got a new download loading bar.
  • The brightness and volume controls have a new look.
  • The Calculator got other changes, it is now even more transparent.
  • In Safari, the option to display full web addresses has been added.
