How long have you had your Mac? And which of the apple operating systems did you have installed on it first? Do you ever drool over Aqua's lovely looks? Not only that, you can remember from today thanks to the published screenshots from all newer operating systems for Mac.

Stephen Hacket is one of the editors of 512Pixels, a collector of Apple products and co-founder of the Relay FM podcast. It was Stephen who uploaded a huge collection of screenshots of every major release of the Mac operating system over the last eighteen years to the said server today. He thus charted not only the arrival and departure again of the Aqua graphical appearance, but also the transition from the name Mac OS X to OS X to macOS.

The gallery that Hacket placed on his blog on the above server, counts a respectable 1500 screenshots. It offers a stunning visual trip back into the history of Mac operating systems, from 2000's OS X Cheetah to last year's macOS High Sierra. Hacket plans to take proper care of the gallery and supplement it with other screenshots, including those from macOS Mojave, the official version of which will be released this fall.

As an avid collector of Apple products, Hacket had the opportunity to run each version of the Mac operating system on the corresponding machine, including the Power Mac G4, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro. He did this on purpose, because he wanted to faithfully capture not only the main functions of all operating systems, but also other important elements. Hacket says he invested a huge amount of time in creating the collection, which, among other things, charts the evolution of the aforementioned Aqua look – and the result is definitely worth it.
