Unexpected success, dizzying earnings, favor from players and hatred from envious people. All this before your sudden by the end the notorious mobile game has survived Flappy Bird. Its author has now decided to make a comeback after a quarter-year hiatus.

“Flappy Bird was meant to be a game you play for a few minutes to unwind. Instead, it became an addictive affair,” developer Dong Nguyen explained in February. That's when he decided to remove his original game from the App Store forever. However, as it became clear after Nguyen's Wednesday conversation for American CNBC, this statement was not entirely true.

The popular game will not return to mobile devices in its original form, but we should expect a new, updated version already in August of this year. According to Nguyen, it shouldn't be so addictive anymore. Why the new Flappy Bird should not build on the infectious gameplay of the original, the developer did not say. He only mentioned that in terms of functionality, the possibility of multiplayer will be added.

Flappy Bird first appeared in the App Store in May 2013, and the game saw its biggest boom at the beginning of this year. Flappy Bird won over iPhone (and later Android) users thanks to its extremely simple concept and, conversely, its very high difficulty. The free game also began to earn through the display of advertisements, according to the author himself, at one point it was up to 50 dollars (000 million CZK) a day.

Due to the enormous success of Flappy Bird, a number of more or less successful clones began to appear in the App Store. The situation has gone so far that games like flying bird, Flappy Fly or Tappy Bieber at the end of February this year, they accounted for a full third of newly created games for iOS. In short, Flappy Bird has dramatically changed the game section of the App Store, and in the future it can still make a big difference.
