Safari in the beta versions of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra is testing WebP, Google's technology for data compression and thus faster page loading. So Apple's browser could soon be as fast as Chrome.

WebP has been a part of Chrome since 2013 (version 32), so it can be said that it is a proven technology. In addition, WebP also uses Facebook or YouTube, because in the context of the given use it is probably the most effective method of data compression.

It is not yet clear whether WebP will also be used by Apple in the sharp versions of the new systems. Both iOS 10 and macOS Sierra are still in a relatively early phase of beta testing, and things can still change. In addition, WebP does not enjoy XNUMX percent acceptance among technology firms. Microsoft, for example, is keeping its hands off WebP. This technology never appeared in its Internet Explorer, and the company has no plans to integrate it into its new Edge web browser either.
