Adam Kos The basic idea behind activating Family Sharing is to give other household members access to Apple services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade or iCloud storage. iTunes or App Store purchases can also be shared. While there are clear benefits, sometimes you might just want to ditch Family Sharing.
An adult member of the household, i.e. the organizer of the family, invites others to the family group. Once they accept your invitation, they get instant access to subscriptions and content that can be shared within the family. But each member still uses his account. Privacy is also taken into account here, so no one will be able to track you unless you set it differently. Want to give it all up? Of course you can.

Any family member aged 15 and over can remove themselves from the family group. If you have Screen Time turned on in your account, you must be removed by a family organizer. If you are the organizer of the family, you can remove members from the family group at any time or you can dissolve it completely. When you leave Family Sharing, you lose access to any purchases or services shared by a family member.

On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Go to Settings.
- Tap your name and tap Family Sharing.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Stop using Family Sharing.
On a Mac
- Choose Apple menu -> System Preferences and click Family Sharing.
- Click Details next to your name.
- Click Leave Family Sharing.
Remove a member from a family group
On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
- Go to Settings.
- Tap your name and tap Family Sharing.
- Tap the name of the family member you want to remove.
- Tap Remove user [name of family member] from family.
On a Mac
- Choose Apple menu -> System Preferences and click Family Sharing.
- Click Details next to the name of the family member you want to remove.
- Click Remove from Family Sharing.
