Tempered glass is among the mandatory equipment of practically every user who owns a touchscreen mobile phone. Nowadays, however, not only phones are touch-sensitive, but also watches and other devices. If we move to the apple world, in addition to iPhones, iPads and Macs, for example, the Apple Watch also has a display - and for the time being, it was very difficult to find a glass that would protect the apple watch 100%. However, PanzerGlass decided to fill this gap in the market and developed a tempered glass for smart watches called PanzerGlass Performance Solutions.

Honestly, I don't think anyone can have an Apple Watch without a scratch after some time of use. We use the Apple Watch in all possible situations - whether it's during exercise, while working in the garden, or at any other time. Apple watches are most often "attacked" by iron door frames, which have caused more than one user to completely break the Apple Watch display. However, you can also rub the screen at any time and anywhere else. Simply put, if there was any device that until now didn't have a protective glass, it was the Apple Watch, which thankfully has now changed.

Technical Specifications

PanzerGlass Performance Solutions protective glass with the materials used is practically no different from ordinary phone glasses. However, it must be noted that PanzerGlass Performance Solutions is not ordinary in terms of shape. You can find a lot of Apple Watch glasses on the Internet that are not 3D, i.e. rounded to the edges. However, it must be noted that these glasses simply will not protect your watch in all situations. If, God forbid, in the case of using classic 2D glass, your watch falls awkwardly to the ground, the edge of the watch is still at risk. PanzerGlass Performance Solutions is a glass for Apple Watch shaped right up to its edges, so that 100% of the display area is hidden under it. The hardness of the glass is then classically 9H and the thickness is around 0,4 mm.

After successfully gluing the glass, you will practically not even recognize that it is on the display. If you are worried and have questions about how it is with the sensitivity of the display after the application of glass, then even in this case the properties are unchanged. And even if by chance the glass somehow affects the properties of the watch's touchscreen, for example the watch reacts badly to pressure, PanzerGlass will replace the glass for you absolutely free of charge. Since the Apple Watch is also a sports accessory, you might be interested in how it is with showering or perhaps swimming. Even in this case, you won't have to leave your watch at home after applying the glass, as PanzerGlass Performance Solutions is waterproof. So water from the shower or swimming will not harm him. Water resistance is aided by a silicone-like material that is applied in the curved parts of the glass. As soon as you stick the glass, this adhesive material "connects" to the display itself and voilà, water resistance is in the world. Unfortunately, this glass is only available for the two latest versions of Apple Watch, i.e. Series 4 and Series 5 in sizes 40 and 44 mm. The price of the glass is then 799 crowns, which is a completely fair price. Glass can save your watch display, which in case of breakage is solved by replacing the entire watch.

Packing

It should be noted that packaging is very important in this case. It contains everything you may need to properly apply the glass to the watch display. In addition to the PanzerGlass Performance Solutions glass itself, the package includes a microfiber cloth with PanzerGlass branding, a damp cloth soaked in alcohol, stickers for removing hairs and other dirt from the display, and a manual in which you will learn the correct steps for sticking the glass. In this case, PanzerGlass opted for a simple white box and not a black one. However, there is the notorious orange patch, thanks to which you can "pull" the glass out of the package.

Glass gluing

Despite the fact that there are instructions for gluing the glass in the package, in this paragraph I will also provide you with the entire gluing process, along with the knowledge I gained during and after gluing. The beginning of gluing is practically exactly the same as in all other cases. First, you need to clean the display as best you can with a damp cloth. Try to use this cloth to remove any stains or dried dirt from the watch display. Once you're done cleaning, grab a microfiber cloth and get down to the final polish. Before application, there must not be any specks on the display - this could significantly complicate the application of the glass. Once you're done cleaning, take the glass itself and remove the protective layer from it, which is marked with the number 1. Before sticking, check again that there is no speck of dust on the display, and then start sticking. Once you put the glass on the display, you shouldn't lift it up again, but if it's really necessary, try to lift the glass and stick it again. Once you have glued the glass, press it firmly with your fingers.

In no case should you try to remove the speck after you stick the glass on this Apple Watch glass. Even though PanzerGlass provides stickers for this glass in the package to remove dirt after sticking the glass, you can damage the glass by using them. So if you happen to find a speck under the glass on the display after gluing, don't try to pull it out. You will most likely get a bubble at this speck - but it can appear even when there is no speck on the display. Even in this case, you should not try to peel the glass off again. Try to pop the bubble with your finger. If you don't succeed, just wait a few days and the bubbles will disappear by themselves. In my case, it took a full 10 days to get rid of the bubbles under the glass. So just be patient and the bubbles will disappear automatically after some time.

Personal experience

During the time that I have owned the Apple Watch, I have had the opportunity to try several glasses - from those for a few crowns to glasses for several hundred. I often didn't even manage to glue the glasses for a few crowns from Chinese markets, so they immediately went to the trash. The more expensive 3D glasses then had the flaw that dust, hair and hair got under the rounded parts. However, with PanzerGlass Performance Solutions, you don't have to worry about similar situations occurring. Thanks to the special adhesive layer on the edges, the glass perfectly blends with the Apple Watch, and in a few moments you won't even notice that you applied it to the watch. Of course, I couldn't miss the water resistance test either. In addition to showering daily, I left the watch overnight in a flooded sink full of water. I have now had the glass applied to my watch for over 14 days and I have to say that it definitely doesn't mind the water. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, I could not try it while swimming, but even in this case, I think that the glass will definitely not fail. As for the scratch resistance of the glass itself, I tried to forcefully scratch the glass with keys, coins and other metal objects. Even in this case, the glass held up without a problem, so it should also be able to withstand hitting the door frame or other metal objects without any problems.

záver

I've been looking for a glass for my Apple Watch for a really long time. As I mentioned in one of the previous paragraphs, I've tried countless different glasses during the time I've owned the Apple Watch Series 4. However, neither of them lasted more than a few days. So it can be said that PanzerGlass Performance Solutions is fundamentally changing the game, and therefore the protective glass market. If you also want to protect your Apple Watch, then PanzerGlass Performance Solutions is practically the only possible choice - that is, if you don't want to risk low-quality glasses that either peel off within a few days or don't stick as they should. Finally, I would like to point out that PanzerGlass Performance Solutions protective glass is definitely not only available on the Apple Watch, but also on other smart watches from other companies.
