As was the case in previous years, this year too, with the arrival of the new generation of iPhones, PanzerGlass has prepared a whole range of protective accessories with the sole aim of extending their life and providing them with additional protection. And since we have already received a few of these pieces for testing in the editorial office, allow me to summarize them in the following lines.

Tempered glass

In connection with PanzerGlass, it is perhaps not even possible to start with anything other than what the manufacturer is most famous for – i.e. tempered glasses. It has long been no longer the case that you can buy only one type, which is at most "cut" differently and therefore sits differently on the display. In recent years, PanzerGlass has worked quite significantly on various filters and protections, thanks to which it is currently available in addition to the standard type of glass as well as Privacy for maximizing privacy protection, as well as glass with a blue world filter and, lastly, with an anti-reflective surface treatment.

In addition to the glass with a blue light filter, this year's novelty is the packaging of the installation frame with the standard glass, which makes its installation easier than ever before. It was all the more surprising for me personally when the other glasses passed the tests without an installation frame, although their installation must be done much more precisely than the application of standard glass. The only one does not have cut-outs for elements in Dynamic Island, so it doesn't matter, with a little exaggeration, whether you glue it exactly or cut it by some tenth of a millimeter (and of course you don't jeopardize compatibility with covers). So I would definitely like to see this thing in the future also for other types of glasses, because it simply makes much more sense there.

As for the display properties after gluing the glasses, I would say that you can't go wrong with any of them. In the case of the standard version, the viewing capabilities of the display will not deteriorate at all, and in the versions with filters or matte surface treatment (anti-reflective) they will change only slightly, which I think can be tolerated for the additional effect of the given glass. For example, I myself used Privacy Glass for years, and although the displayed content on the display was always slightly darker, it was really worth it for the certainty that I could comfortably view the given item. On the other hand, my girlfriend has been using the anti-reflective glass for the second year, and I have to say that, although it is quite unusual to reach for a slightly matte glass, it is absolutely priceless on sunny days, because thanks to it, the display is really perfectly readable. As for the glass against blue light, I can only add here that if you are dealing with this matter, you will probably be happy to forgive a slight change in the displayed content.

If you're asking about the durability and overall handling of a phone with applied glass, there's honestly nothing to complain about. If you manage to stick the glass exactly as needed, it will de facto merge with the display and you will suddenly stop perceiving it - all the more so if you equip the phone with a cover as well. Closely related to this is the controllability, which does not deteriorate in any way thanks to the 100% adhesion, on the contrary, I would say that the glass slides even better than the display. As for protection, PanzerGlass is very difficult to scratch with force with keys or other sharp objects, so some small knocks in, for example, handbags and backpacks are no problem for them. In the case of falls, it is of course a lottery, because it always depends extremely on the angle of impact, height and other aspects. Personally, however, PanzerGlass has always worked perfectly when dropped, and thanks to that, it saved me a lot of money for display repairs. However, I stress again that fall protection is largely about luck.

Camera cover

For the second year already, PanzerGlass offers, in addition to protective glasses, protection for the photo module in the form of an adhesive glass-plastic module, which you simply stick to the entire surface of the camera and it's done. To be completely honest, I have to say that it is not a design gem, which, in my opinion, is the main negative of this product. Instead of three protruding lenses from a slightly raised base, you suddenly have the entire photo module aligned in one plane, which also logically protrudes quite a bit from the body - specifically, a little more than the lenses themselves without protection. On the other hand, it is fair to say that if a person uses a more massive cover, this cover will "only" complement it as a result, and to a certain extent it will be lost in combination with it. As for its resistance, it is ultimately the same as for display glasses, because the same glass is logically used for its production.

I've taken quite a lot of photos with the covers over the past months (I've already tested them with the iPhone 13 Pro) and I must say that I've rarely encountered any problem that would limit a person. Although the protection may throw a slight glare or other defect from time to time, as a rule, just turn the phone slightly differently and the problem is gone. In addition, you don't have to worry about dust or something similar getting under the cover. Thanks to the fact that it firmly sticks to the photomodule, it is completely impossible for anything to penetrate under it. Logically, its correct application is all the more important.

Protective packaging

If you are one of the fans of transparent covers, PanzerGlass has apparently not left you cold in recent years. Recently, it has focused quite intensively on transparent covers, both with glass and plastic backs, while this year it has supplemented its offer for premium models with a Biodegradable Case, i.e. a compostable cover already introduced for the iPhone SE (2022).

Although the range of covers has not changed compared to last year (except for the compostable mode) and includes the ClearCase with a TPU frame and glass back, the HardCase with a complete TPU body and the SilverBullet with a glass back and a robust frame, PanzerGlass has finally made the move to use MagSafe rings for the ClearCase and HardCase . After two years of anabasis, they finally become fully compatible with MagSafe accessories, which is definitely excellent news that many will appreciate. So far, I've only gotten my hands on the HardCase with MagSafe for the 14 Pro series, but I have to say that I was really impressed. I really like transparent TPU covers - and even more so with my Space Black 14 Pro - and when they are newly added with MagSafe, they are suddenly usable on a whole new level. In addition, the magnets in the cover are really strong (I would say that they are comparable to covers from Apple), so there is no need to worry about attaching, for example, the Apple MagSafe Wallet to them or "clipping" them to wireless chargers, holders in the car and the like. As for durability, there's probably no point in lying to yourself - it's simply a classic TPU, which you can scratch with a little effort and which will turn yellow after a while. In the past, however, my HardCases started to yellow significantly only after almost a year of daily use, so I believe it will be the same here. The only negative I have to point out is that due to the "softness" and pliability of the TPU frame, dust or other dirt gets under it a little, so it is necessary to remove it from the phone from time to time and polish its edges.

Summary

PanzerGlass demonstrated why it is used in large numbers by users around the world with the iPhone 14 (Pro) accessories again this year. His products are once again at a very high level and it is literally a pleasure to use them. A certain catch is the higher price, which can discourage many, but I must honestly say that after about 5 years of using PanzerGlass on my iPhones, I would not put any other glass on them and I also use PanzerGlass covers on a daily basis (although of course to alternate with a few other brands depending on the mood). So I can definitely recommend PanzerGlass to you, as I do to my family and friends.
