As for headphones, the market has been completely dominated by AirPods in recent years, that is, if we are talking about headphones in the form of in-ear buds or plugs. In terms of headphones, the Californian giant offers AirPods Max, which are also popular, but due to their price tag, they do not attract as many users. So if you were looking for headphones, you have to look for alternative brands, of which there are of course countless. You can find headphones that are extremely cheap, but the price depends on the processing and sound, or you can buy even more expensive ones - finding the right one with a great price-performance ratio is relatively difficult anyway.

In our magazine, we have been reviewing products from the Swissten brand, which manufactures all kinds of accessories, for several years now. Her portfolio also includes headphones, both in-ear and over-ear. I got my hands on headphones some time ago Swissten Jumbo, which are just the headlines and quite frankly pleasantly surprised me, from several pages. So let's take a look at them together in this review.

Swiss Jumbo

Official specification

As in other reviews, in this one we will start with the official specifications, which will reveal a lot. The Swissten Jumbo are therefore headphones with a foldable design, which makes them easy to store and transport. The speakers are 40 mm, the impedance reaches 32 ohms and the power is 2x 30 mW. The frequency is classic, ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, microphone sensitivity 98 ± 3dB. It is very important to mention that the reviewed headphones support Bluetooth 5.3, thanks to which they have a range of up to 10 meters and offer codecs HFP, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP and more. The battery has a capacity of 300 mAh, thanks to which they should be able to play for up to 16 hours, with a full charge within 2 hours. We must not forget the water resistance, which is determined by the IPX3 certification. The price is 999 crowns, thanks to our cooperation with the store Swissten.eu but you can use up to 15% discount code, thanks to which you will get to the amount of 849 crowns.

Packing

In terms of packaging, everything is the same - it is the same as with other products from the Swissten brand. So you get a white box with red elements, on the front of which there is a picture of the Swissten Jumbo headphones, together with basic information. On the sides you will find other labels, together with a photo of the headphones, on the back side there are their detailed specifications and description, together with instructions. After opening the box, just take out the headphones wrapped in foil together with the box. The headphones are compactly folded in the box, in addition to them you will also find accessories in the form of a charging USB-A - USB-C cable with a length of 80 centimeters, a cable with a 3,5 mm jack end on both sides, which is 1 meter long, and a small booklet with detailed instructions. So the packaging is fine, in any case, it's a shame about the unnecessary plastic - the headphones could be packed in a nice bag, which could also be used for carrying.

Processing

Regarding the processing, I was really pleasantly surprised as soon as I picked up the headphones for the first time. Of course, they are made of plastic, which in a way imitates aluminum - but you cannot tell that it is not aluminum from a distance without touching it. On the left shell you will find a USB-C connector for charging, while the right shell offers a lot more – namely, an on/off switch, control buttons, a 3,5mm connector for a wired connection to the device and an LED status indicator. The structure itself, where the size can be adjusted, is really very strong and I don't feel like the headphones might break when folded. Thanks to this folding option, the shells can be turned to the side, and then one of them can be "bent" inwards, which will make it significantly smaller. The headset, which features Swissten branding on the top, is made entirely of leatherette and soft foam, as are the ear cups.

Personal experience

It is already written on the box of the headphones that they are very comfortable according to the manufacturer, so I had high expectations. The perfect news is that they have been fulfilled. After putting the Swissten Jumbo headphones on my head for the first time, I felt like I practically didn't have them on. The earcups are really very nice and soft and fit your ears perfectly. Personally, I absolutely do not use over-the-head headphones, precisely because they are uncomfortable for me, but I can imagine wearing the Swissten Jumbo comfortably all day. During testing, I had them on for several hours at a time and after a long time I did not experience ear pain or any other discomfort with the headphones. Therefore, I was really pleasantly surprised, and if you are primarily looking for comfortable headphones, I can definitely recommend the Swissten Jumbo.

Swiss Jumbo

You can use Swissten Jumbo either wired or wirelessly. Of course, for many users these days "wire" is already a dirty word, but it's definitely nice to have this option. The experience of pairing the headphones is also great, and it's an extremely simple process - just turn them on, go to the Bluetooth settings, tap them and voila - they're connected, confirming the soft tone. Fortunately, you are not spoken to by a broken Chinese-English lady who informs you of a successful pairing, as is customary with cheaper models. As I already mentioned in the paragraph regarding processing, there are a total of three buttons on the right earcup that can be used to control the Swissten Jumbo. Specifically, thanks to them, you can change the volume, start/pause playback, or skip or rewind a song. The buttons could be handled a bit better, i.e. softer, in terms of click feel, but this is definitely not an extra complaint.

Sound

Of course, sound is important for any headphone. During my career, all kinds of headphones have passed through my hands, both cheap and more expensive, both worse and better. And quite frankly, I have no hesitation in classifying the Swissten Jumbo as an above-average headphone box. Before unboxing I expected the sound to be not very good, tinny and lackluster, but after playing the music and podcast for the first time, I immediately changed my mind. The sound is clear, even at maximum volume, which is announced by a beep. There is no noise or grunt in the background, so if you don't have any music on at the moment, you just don't hear anything. However, the bass stands out a little more, but not significantly, as is usual with other similar headphones.

I've specifically used the Swissten Jumbos when listening to different genres of music, podcasts together, and I've never been in a situation where I thought they simply couldn't handle it. For the nearly 1,000 kroner that these headphones cost, in my opinion, the sound is really above average, and I honestly have no problem saying that they sound similar to AirPods - and I'm really a big fan and supporter of apple headphones. The headphones also dampen ambient sounds relatively well, but what I have to criticize is the microphone. You can use it, but the other party probably won't be completely thrilled due to the low volume and grunting.

záver

I didn't expect to ever get my hands on headphones like the Swissten Jumbo. As for the price-performance ratio, it is really absolutely great with these headphones, to the point where I just don't want to believe it. As I mentioned in the lines above, the first time I was extremely surprised by the quality of processing, especially in terms of comfort. The ear pads and the headband are very pleasant and comfortable, and the headphones do not hurt your ears even after prolonged wear. At the same time, I was also pleasantly surprised by the sound performance, which I have probably never encountered with headphones in a similar price range. So I totally recommend the Swissten Jumbo headphones, so either compete for them or take advantage of the discount I've attached below.
