Jiří Filip Cases, covers and packaging are more commonly associated with smartphones. However, if you often travel with your MacBook, you should definitely not forget to protect it either. After all, these are relatively expensive devices that are quite easily damaged. Fortunately, however, there are a number of accessories on the market that will provide Apple computers with very decent protection and give them a touch of luxury as a bonus. A leather case for a MacBook from the workshop of the Beskydy company BeWooden is a great example. We received one of these a few days ago in the editorial office for a review, and since I have managed to take a very good picture of it during this time thanks to frequent use, I will introduce you to it in the following lines.
Packing
It's perfectly clear to me that packaging is probably the last thing you'll care about for a product like a MacBook case. However, I was personally pleased enough to stop by him briefly. If I were to ask you where you would expect to run out of a similar product, what would your answer be? I bet that for most of you, a plastic bag would win, at most a bubble envelope from the post office. After all, this is an extremely light and thin product that would definitely fit in a similar package. However, BeWooden takes a different path, and a damn pleasant one at that. No unnecessary plastics, no unnecessary foils and, in fact, no other unnecessary things that would strain nature, but also reduce the overall impression of the product. The case will be delivered to you in a minimalistic white box with an inconspicuous logo, in which the product is wrapped in fine paper and provided with a small card with information about the materials used. Nothing more, nothing less. And that's what's great. A similar style of packaging gives you the immediate feeling that you are getting something exceptional and unique. In addition, similar packaging will certainly not offend even as a gift. In short, just tie a bow and send the set on. Thumbs up for this solution.
Specifications
Specifically, I got my hands on a black leather MacBook cover, which you can find on the e-shop as Sleeve MacBook Air 13". This is a classic stretch case into which you slide the MacBook sideways, while one side of it always remains open and therefore accessible for immediate removal of the computer. With other types of cases, you can, of course, also close this side, for example with a flap, thereby achieving 100% protection from all sides.
As for the material used, it is real leather, which should be of high quality, and it really looks and feels that way. The entire case is made by hand in the Czech Republic (and according to the manufacturer with love), thanks to which you can be sure that each piece is original in its own way, since you will not find two in the world that match, for example, in the individual seams connecting two pieces of leather in one whole or in the processing of the edges, which are – as is customary with leather products of this type – sealed, thanks to which you do not have to worry about them fraying in any way or anything similar.

While on the outside you can enjoy the surface and the smell of leather, on the inside the case is equipped with a very soft lining that is the same color as the outside. In the case of a black case, the lining is also black. It will ensure maximum comfort for your laptop and, above all, you will be sure that it has absolutely no chance of being scratched - in fact, on the contrary. If you insert a slightly dirty laptop into the case, for example, the soft lining will remove the dirt from it. If you were interested in the dimensions, the outer ones are 34,5 x 25 cm, and the inner ones are 32,5 x 22,7 x 1 cm, which in other words means that you can fit a MacBook Air with a 7" diagonal into the case in a really first-class way.
Personal experience
I'll admit that I've had a weakness for leather things for quite some time now, so when the chance arose to try this case, I didn't hesitate for a minute. And after a few days of testing I have to say that we did well. The case really looks perfect. Thanks to its minimalist design, you don't have to be ashamed of it both at school and at business meetings with important partners. Leather without any distracting elements, on which you will only find a small BeWooden logo, has a very luxurious impression that is definitely not to be thrown away. Leaving aside the design, I also have to praise how high the protection of the MacBook case placed in it provides. The dimensions chosen by the manufacturer are absolutely ideal and thanks to them the laptop is literally covered with a case. Thanks to this, it is really well protected, both against scratches and falls, which the case can adequately absorb. However, since it is really thin, you can't expect it to protect your laptop falling from two meters onto concrete.
Since the case perfectly surrounds the entire MacBook, you don't even have to worry about it falling out if you grab the wrong end of the case. The dimensions are really so precisely selected that if you don't want to take the laptop out yourself, it is practically impossible for it to escape from the case. In addition, as I mentioned above, since the case is really thin, the volume of the laptop will hardly increase and you will be able to carry it in the bags you are used to, which is certainly nice. On the other hand, the case with the laptop will look much bigger in the hand.
Summary
Similar products are always very easy for me to evaluate. If, like me, you have a soft spot for leather and love minimalist design, I'm betting you'll love the BeWooden case as much as I do. In terms of processing, absolutely nothing can be faulted, and the same applies in terms of functionality and use. It protects your laptop perfectly and gives it a touch of luxury if you hide it in the case. Another benefit, which will manifest itself over time, is the patina, which makes the leather even more beautiful. And for those who don't want to wait for the patina, just smell the case and enjoy the unmistakable leather scent. So if you are looking for a really great case, which you will not be ashamed of anywhere and which will be original, it is a very good choice from BeWooden.
