Cases that offer complete protection for iPhones are becoming more and more popular, whether they are used daily or only used in case of a trip to extreme conditions. BravoCase for iPhone 5 is such a case that can definitely be used on a daily basis. It offers complete protection against falls, dust and water and is made of aluminum.

We reviewed the packaging in August LifeProof Frē, in September Hitcase Pro and now let's look at another piece of the series of super-resistant cases. However, unlike the two products mentioned above, BravoCase does things a little differently. It does not offer the protection of a shell into which you insert the iPhone, but is a combination of an aluminum structure and a very durable foil. Therefore, the claim that the BravoCase is even waterproof may seem unbelievable, but everything is really designed so that the iPhone can withstand any conditions.

The basis of success with BravoCase is precisely the deployment of the foil, which must be "glued" to the iPhone display really carefully. BravoCase does not come with just any film, but a very hard and strong material for films. Paradoxically, however, it has no effect on the control of the display, and it occurred to me that the iPhone may even be controlled better with this film than with other classic protective films.

It is important that the foil from BravoCase covers the top camera, sensor and speaker, but at the same time does not prevent their use in any way. The deterioration in sound quality is negligible compared to LifeProof Frē or Hitcase Pro. For the Home button, the solid foil is raised to make it operate smoothly.

After the film is applied, the aluminum case itself comes next, which is not particularly robust, and its design can also be interesting. The two separate parts are connected by seven screws with a torx head, which is one of the advantages and at the same time disadvantages of the entire case. You can put on the mentioned competitive products faster (you don't have to screw seven times), on the other hand, they have various snapping mechanisms that unnecessarily add to the size of the packaging. It's a personal preference of everyone which method suits them better. If you plan to put your iPhone in the case and not take it off in the near future, BravoCase is no problem.

After screwing in, the aluminum part covering the Lightning connector just clicks and the iPhone is ready for the worst. Before that, however, you need to check the tightness of the other screws around the phone's power button and around the volume buttons. If they are not tight enough, water can get through. Somewhat confusingly, these are no longer Torx head screws (a Torx screwdriver is included in the package), so you have to bring your own screwdriver.

BravoCase does not prevent access to all controls. All hardware buttons are operated without any problems, in the back there are holes for the camera and the flash, as well as for the Apple logo. Only here and in the other two places in the back is the case not aluminum. For better signal reception, there are two plastic parts on the back, because aluminum does not help signal reception much. Access to the Lightning connector is also problem-free, next to it there is a cover for the 3,5 mm jack connector, and an extension cable is also available in the package.

The big advantage of BravoCase is that the iPhone 5 is not too thick thanks to it, the dimensions will increase much more to the sides, but this is understandable and at the same time acceptable. Screen protection in the form of a durable film does its job. At first impression, the foil as a protective element against water and rain does not inspire much confidence, but the BravoCase foil is really made of highly resistant material, thanks to which you can even submerge it up to a depth of two meters for half an hour. I didn't go that deep with the iPhone, but it survived being submerged in water.

Much more than a few added millimeters, the weight can be an issue with the BravoCase. After all, only 70 grams extra is already noticeable on the 112 gram iPhone 5. However, BravoCase is definitely an interesting alternative to all those bulky cases that can put off many users. The price of 1 crowns is a relative standard in this packaging segment, so it probably won't be too decisive in the choice.
