"In this era of constant technological change, QTS 4.5.1 brings various innovations and improvements that take the performance and efficiency of NAS management to the next level," said Sam Lin, product manager of QNAP, adding, "By improving virtualization capabilities, network flexibility, and management efficiency QTS 4.5.1 helps users maximize the use of their IT resources while helping them balance operational reliability and IT flexibility.”

Key new apps and features in QTS 4.5.1:

  • Live migration of virtual machines
When NAS software/hardware needs to be updated/maintained, users can move running VMs between different NAS without impacting VM availability, thus gaining flexibility and efficiency for VM applications.
  • Wi-Fi 6 and WPA2 Enterprise
Install the QXP-W6-AX200 Wi-Fi 6 PCIe card in your QNAP NAS to add high-speed 802.11ax wireless connectivity and eliminate the need for Ethernet cables. WPA2 Enterprise provides wireless security for enterprise networks, including certificate authority, encryption key, and advanced encryption/decryption.
  • Add the QNAP NAS to Azure AD DS
Microsoft Azure AD DS provides managed domain services such as domain join, group policy, and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). By adding QNAP NAS devices to Azure AD DS, IT staff does not need to perform local deployment and management of a domain controller, and achieves greater efficiency in managing user accounts and permissions for multiple NAS devices.
  • QuLog Center
It provides a graphical statistical classification of error/warning events and access, and helps to quickly monitor and respond to potential system risks. QuLog Center supports labels, advanced search, and log sender/receiver. Logs from multiple QNAP NAS devices can be centralized to QuLog Center on a specific NAS for efficient management.
  • Console Management
When performing maintenance/troubleshooting or if IT/support personnel cannot access QTS via HTTP/S, Console Management can be used to perform basic configuration and debugging. Console Management is available via SSH, Serial Console or by connecting an HDMI display device, keyboard and mouse to the NAS.
