The long-awaited Apple Arcade service, which for a monthly fee of 140 crowns (for the whole family) will offer a catalog of more than a hundred "exclusive” game titles, will arrive on iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple TV this Friday. A select handful of YouTubers and reviewers were able to get their hands on the service early, and first impressions appeared on the site today. They are surprisingly very positive.

The most important element of the entire service is of course the games, and as can be seen from the first impressions, even the starter catalog will be very good. Most editors and YouTubers praised the number and variety of available titles, saying that absolutely everyone has to choose from the starting catalog. From simple-minded indie games, to more complex platformers and puzzle-style games, to some titles that supposedly wouldn't embarrass even the current generations of consoles.

Reviewers also generally praise how the service itself works. Game data is stored through Game Center, and apart from the initial loading screen, there is nowhere to tell that the player is playing through the Apple Arcade platform. The ability to connect a PS4/Xbox One controller is a big plus. Some reviewers have complained that the iPad as a gaming medium may not be ideal for some titles. Mainly due to its size and (temporary) control incompatibility.

Related to the above, reviewers also praise the price Apple Arcade users will pay for their subscription. 140 crowns per month for the whole family is a very good price for the amount of potential entertainment that the service offers. Everyone should choose from the library, which should be constantly growing. All titles will be available in full. For example, parents don't have to worry about their children spending huge sums on sneaky microtransactions. Apple offers a free one-month trial for everyone. Only then will it become clear how big a hit it will be in the end. However, Apple Arcade clearly has a solid foothold.
