Apple fans are increasingly talking about the arrival of a new generation of MacBook Air. It received its last upgrade at the end of 2020, when it was specifically one of the three computers that were the first to receive the first Apple Silicon chip, specifically the M1. This is precisely why the performance has skyrocketed compared to previously used processors from Intel, while this model can also enjoy considerable praise for its battery life. But what will the new series bring?

When Apple introduced the redesigned 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro (2021) last year, it managed to surprise many people with the presence of a Mini-LED display with ProMotion technology. In terms of quality, it was able to come close to, for example, OLED panels, while also offering an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It is therefore not surprising that Apple fans began to speculate whether we will not see a similar change in the case of the MacBook Air.

MacBook Air with Mini-LED display

With the arrival of the Mini-LED display, the quality of the display would increase significantly, and it can be said with certainty that the vast majority of Apple users would be pleased with such a change. On the other hand, it is not quite so simple. It is necessary to understand the fundamental differences between Apple laptops, specifically between the Air and Pro models. While Air is the so-called basic model for regular users in the apple company's portfolio, Pro is the opposite and is intended exclusively for professionals. After all, this is why it offers significantly higher performance and is also significantly more expensive.

Taking this division into account, it is enough to focus on the most fundamental benefits of the Pro models. They primarily rely on their high performance, which is important for flawless work even in the field, and a perfect display. MacBook Pros are generally intended primarily for people who edit videos or photos, work with 3D, programming, and the like. It is therefore not surprising that the display plays such an important role. From this point of view, the deployment of a Mini-LED panel is therefore quite understandable, even if in this case the costs of the device itself rise.

And that is why it is more or less clear that the MacBook Air will not receive a similar improvement. The target group of this laptop can easily get by without such conveniences, and it can simply be said that they simply do not need such a high-quality display. Instead, Apple may focus on completely different features with the MacBook Air. It is crucial for him to be able to offer sufficient performance and above-average battery life in a small body. Both of these features are more or less ensured by the own chipset from the Apple Silicon family.
