You will have to wait until mid-June for Mac Studio, for its higher configuration until the end of July. 14" and 16" MacBooks are delivered only at the end of July and beginning of August. This is regardless of the selected configuration. Even MacBook Airs will not be delivered by Apple from its Online Store until mid-June. The only machines you can have right away are the 13" MacBook Pro, Mac mini and 24" iMac.

Apple recently reported record revenue for the second fiscal quarter of 2022 of $97,3 billion, but also mentioned that supply chain issues could cost it $4 billion to $8 billion next quarter. Since then, there have been regular reports of production shutdowns, especially in China. Covid has certainly not yet said the last word, so it is still closing various factories, employees are in quarantine, production lines are at a standstill.

That, plus the Russia-Ukraine conflict, is increasing the pressure on both sides. Supply is constrained by production and logistical issues, while demand is affected by the war and ongoing lockdowns due to the COVID-19 disease. The flaws are being reported throughout Apple's supply chain, particularly around Macs. Macworld reported that only three Macs are immediately available in the US - all older M1 models, the 13" MacBook Pro, the Mac mini and the iMac 24, which illustrates the situation here as well. Other models have the shortest delay of two weeks, with the Mac Studio with M1 Ultra shipping over two months. So the situation is the same everywhere. And to top it all off, there is still an insufficient supply of the necessary chips to the market.

Don't wait and buy while it lasts

The shortage, especially in the US, may also be due to the purchasing cycles of businesses and schools that are upgrading their equipment, which is why many supplies are flowing to companies and other institutions. However, even if we are talking about Apple computers, i.e. those that do not occupy a dominant market share, other companies are also affected by the shortage. It is number 1 in the Dell or Lenovo market. Within Windows computers, of course, more users are switching to new devices because it is a significantly more widespread platform.

In addition, Statcounter states that one out of 200 computers is still running Windows XP from 2001, which users, or rather companies, will probably want to finally replace with a more modern system. They probably run in larger enterprises, which expose themselves to considerable danger in view of the growing cyber attacks.

By no means do we want to cause panic, but do you want a new computer? Buy it now. That is, if you are not really waiting for any news that WWDC will bring, or if you don't mind the subsequent wait. If any news comes, be sure not to hesitate too long and order immediately when the pre-sale starts. That is, if he doesn't want to wait until autumn for delivery. So far, there is no indication that the situation should significantly stabilize. And on top of that, we have inflation and global rising prices, so if you buy now, you can save in the end.
