If we were to compare Apple and Samsung in terms of the volume of their footage, Apple would simply lose. The Samsung Group has its fingers in almost all areas of the market when things are just getting started for smartphones. Thus, Apple also supplies displays, and these are, paradoxically, better than the ones it uses itself. Why?

So when we introduced phones, let's add that Samsung also produces televisions, white goods and vacuum cleaners, but also medicines, heavy equipment (excavators) and cargo ships. He is no stranger to the production of chips or displays. Of course, smartphone users are mostly unaware of the company's reach, but Samsung is a conglomerate that enables many technological advancements in South Korea and beyond - they even train guide dogs for the visually impaired.

A division of Samsung Display

Division Samsung Display supplies its displays not only to the mobile division for Galaxy devices, but also to Apple and other companies. Specifically, 14% of all displays are provided for the iPhone 82, with LG Display (12%) and BOE (6%) accounting for the remaining percentages, especially for the basic series. As for the number of units, even before the launch of the iPhone 14, Apple wanted some 28 million displays from Samsung, which is not a completely insignificant figure, which will continue to grow with the gradual sale of phones.

Even though Samsung Display is part of Samsung, it also functions as an independent business unit. Since Apple then supplies so many of its iPhones to the market that it is the second largest smartphone seller in the world, if Samsung Display rejected it in the context of the competitive struggle in the supply of displays, the entire company would noticeably feel it on its income. And since money comes first, he simply cannot afford it.

The best display on the market

When Samsung introduced its top model in the form of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in February this year, it got a display with a maximum brightness of 1 nits. At the time, no one had more and it was so unique that it has now been surpassed by the iPhone 750 Pro, because it offers a "paper" brightness of 14 nits. In both cases, the displays are made by the same company, i.e. Samsung Display, which works closely with Apple on the technical design of the iPhone display, and logically cannot use it in "its" Galaxy phones.

Moreover, if you take the sales of the flagship iPhones against the sales of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it is clear that the former will beat its juice in this one. In addition, it also has two models. Also for that reason, it is more profitable for Samsung Display to sell its solution to Apple, because it will surely earn more from it than from the sales of displays for its Ultra. But it goes without saying that Galaxy s23 ultra it will have similar display specifications to the current iPhone 14 Pro. This Samsung flagship should come to the market sometime in late January/February 2023.

According to professional test DisplayMate the display present in the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the best display to date on any smartphone. It is therefore a certain praise for Samsung. At the same time, the measured maximum brightness still exceeds the stated value, when it is even 2 nits. It also performs well in rendering white, color fidelity or viewing angles.
