Yesterday evening, we informed you in our magazine that Apple has released new versions of operating systems - namely iOS 14.4.2, together with watchOS 7.3.3. It is not at all customary for Apple to release updates on Friday evenings, when everyone is already in weekend mode and most likely already watching some series. Both of these new versions of the operating systems include "only" security bug fixes, which the Californian giant confirms directly in the update notes. But if you put this whole situation together, you will find that there must have been a serious security flaw in the original versions of the operating systems, which Apple had to fix as soon as possible.

The update notes themselves didn't give us any specific information - they only contained the following sentence: "This update brings important security updates.” However, there is good news for curious individuals as detailed details have surfaced on Apple's developer portal. On it, you can learn that the older versions of iOS 14.4.1 and wachOS 7.3.2 contained a security flaw in WebKit that could be exploited to hack or to transmit malicious code. Although the apple company itself does not say whether the bug was actively exploited, given the day and time of the update, it can be assumed that it was. Therefore, you should definitely not delay updating both operating systems on your iPhone and Apple Watch unnecessarily. Because if you lie in someone's stomach, it might not turn out well.

If you want to update your iPhone or iPad, it is not complicated. You just need to go to Settings -> General -> Software Update, where you can find, download and install the new update. If you have set automatic updates, you don't have to worry about anything and iOS or iPadOS 14.4.2 will be installed automatically at night, i.e. if the iPhone or iPad is connected to power. If you want to update your Apple Watch, it's not complicated. Just go to the app Watch -> General -> Software Update, or you can open the native app directly on the Apple Watch Settings, where the update can also be done. However, it is still necessary to ensure that the watch has an Internet connection, a charger and, on top of that, a 50% battery charge for the watch.
