HomePod has several specific limitations due to which is not as popular with users as Apple might wish. One might think that the speaker will receive new functions over time with the arrival of software updates. Although a few actually increased, last week Apple did the exact opposite. Newly, it no longer allows songs from Apple Music to be played simultaneously on the HomePod and on another Apple device if the user uses the same account.

Until recently, the HomePod was not included in the limited number of devices that use one Apple Music account at the same time. This meant that the user could use the classic subscription service and play a certain song on the iPhone, while at the same time the HomePod was playing a completely different song. Thus, neither device interrupted the other's stream, which was a significant advantage. But this is what HomePod owners have now lost, and to get it back, they have to pay extra.

About news informed quite a few users on the Reddit discussion forum who said that the behavior of the device, and therefore Apple Music, changed only during the last week. One of the users even contacted Apple support, where one of the specialists told him that the HomePod should have been included in the device limit from the very beginning and that its speaker now works exactly as intended.

The only solution to the situation is to upgrade to an Apple Music family membership. After all, this is exactly what the system notification that appears when you want to play two different songs simultaneously on your iOS device and HomePod calls for this.

iPhone HomePod Apple Music

And what good was playing music from Apple Music on two devices at the same time? In the case of the HomePod, it actually made sense. If, as the head of the family, you set up the HomePod from your iPhone and only used the classic Apple Music membership, then you might have encountered the example situation on a regular basis. It was enough to listen to Apple Music in the car on the way home from work, for example, while the wife played other songs on the HomePod at home. There would be several similar examples.
