It's been about a year since the unofficial report that talked about improving the entire MobileMe service. It was (and is) quite likely given the pressure from the competition. But is it worth renewing your expiring account right now? Rather no than yes…

Today, roughly a week before the WWDC 2011 conference, we can almost certainly expect MobileMe to be updated. According to all available information, it will be divided into 2 parts - paid and unpaid. Mailbox and online synchronization should be free. Everything else will probably remain charged.

A separate chapter should be the iCloud service, which will bring online storage for your music library. Amazon and Google already offer this service and, moreover, free of charge, so we could expect a similar welcoming step from Apple as well. But let us be surprised.

So if your MobileMe expires these days, I recommend not renewing. Wait that week and then decide if it's worth paying extra for the remaining services. Don't worry, you won't lose your emails, you still have access to your mailbox for 2 weeks after the account expires.
