A year after the release of iOS 8, Apple's latest mobile operating system is still installed on 87 percent of active devices. It is these users who will be able to switch to iOS 9, which will be released to the general public, without any problems today.
The adoption of iOS 8 was not nearly as smooth and fast as in the case of iOS 7. In January, the hovered around 72 percent, while the year before, the "seven" had eight percentage points more at that time. Over 80 percent with iOS 8 swung at the end of April and in four months it grew to the current 87 percent. Grow up adds such as Apple Music, which required iOS 8.4.
Thirteen percent of active devices continue to use an older operating system (11% iOS 7, 2% even older). A year ago, when moving from iOS 7 to iOS 8, 90 percent of devices were running the current system.
Apple is expected to release the new iOS 9 traditionally at 19 p.m. our time. All iPhones, iPads and iPod touches that supported iOS 8 will be able to update to it. According to the analyst firm Mixpanel iOS 9 adoption is already slightly above one percent, thanks to developers and users testing the system in beta versions.
I wonder how it will go on my old iPhone 4S and iPad 2 :-)
I also have a 4S, I'd rather still have iOS 7, so I'll see what the reactions are and when I do, I'll update to 9
8.4 runs pretty well on 4s. 9 will be too. Apple probably wouldn't release something that would work very poorly next. You can't expect the same speed as 6s, but it will be usable.
I also have a 4s and IOS 8 seems a little slower. But if I compare it with the "bad" androids around, it's still perfect. Please let me know how it turned out, if you have the courage to try it.
so I still have a 6tka, it will be a big decision whether to go for ios9
It will be another horror before the first rush subsides. I reckon I'll be happy if I can download it tomorrow morning...
