Also in today's installment of our regular series on native Apple apps, we'll be discussing Preview on the Mac. This time we will take a closer look at further work with files in PDF format - locking, signing, filling and annotation.

To lock a PDF file (or image) in Preview on Mac so that no one else can edit it, hover over the arrow to the right of the file name at the top of the application window. Click the arrow - a menu will appear in which you can check the Lock option. If someone else wants to edit a document you've locked, they'll have to click File -> Duplicate on the toolbar at the top of the Mac screen, then edit just the copy of that file. You can also lock and unlock files in the Finder by clicking File -> Info on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen and checking the Locked box.

You can also annotate files in Preview on Mac. You can view the annotation tools by clicking on the handle icon in the circle at the top of the application window, or by clicking Tools -> Annotations on the toolbar at the top of the Mac screen. You can also use the preview to fill out and sign PDF forms. To fill out the form, just click on any field in the application and start writing. If you want to add a signature, you must first create it. On the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click Tools -> Annotations -> Signature -> Manage Signatures. Then click Create Signature and choose whether you want to create your signature on your Mac's trackpad, scan it using your computer's webcam, or create it on your iPhone or iPad. To add a signature, just click on Tools -> Annotation -> Signature, and then resize the signature field and move it to the selected location.
