With the arrival of the macOS 10.15 operating system, there has been a major change in the area of media management and playback on the Mac. Instead of iTunes, users got three separate apps – Music, Apple TV and Podcasts. In the next installments of our series on native Apple apps, we'll cover the Apple TV app.

If you want to use the Apple TV app on your Mac to buy and rent movies or watch  TV+ shows, you'll need your Apple ID. If for any reason you are not yet signed in to your Apple ID in the app, click Account -> Sign In on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen and enter all the necessary information. To change your account information, in the Apple TV app, click Account -> View My Account in the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen. Select Edit, enter the appropriate changes, and click Done when you're done. If you want to view your purchase history in the Apple TV app, click Account -> View My Account again in the toolbar at the top of the screen. In the Account Information tab, under the Purchase History category, click View All. In the shopping list that appears to you, you will find all items sorted from the most recent. Click More to get details about the selected purchase.

For some purposes, such as playing specific items, your Mac will need to be authorized. Authorization is done by clicking on Account -> Authorization -> Authorize computer. You can authorize up to five computers (both Macs and PCs). To deauthorize a computer (for example, before selling it), click Account -> Authorization -> Deauthorize Computer. You can also deauthorize a computer to which you no longer have access. Just click on Account -> View My Account, where on the right side you click on Deauthorize All.
