Other native apps, tools, utilities, and gadgets from Apple that we feature throughout our series also include the App Store. The online application store is one of the tools that are really easy to use and can be used by almost anyone, but it is certainly worth reminding yourself of the basics of working with it. We will cover the App Store on Mac in the next part of our series, when we will take a closer look at the  Arcade service.

In order to purchase and download applications in the App Store, you need to be signed in with your Apple ID. To check and possibly change the Apple ID account, click on the  menu -> System Preferences -> Apple ID in the upper left corner of the Mac screen. In the left-hand panel, click Media & Purchases and make the desired changes. You can either search for applications in the App Store by entering their name in the appropriate field in the upper left corner of the application window, or you can simply browse the App Store menu - for easier and faster orientation, use the list of categories in the left side panel. After clicking on the selected application, you will see its description, price, screenshots and user ratings and reviews.

If you have an iTunes gift card, download promo code, or Apple Music gift card, you can redeem it in the App Store. Click on your name in the lower left corner of the application window, then select Redeem Gift Card in the lower right corner of the window. After that, all you have to do is enter the download code or the code from the relevant card. With Family Sharing, you can also download apps that other family members have downloaded to your Mac. In the lower left corner of the app window, click your name, then select Purchased(s) and select the name of that family member. You can then download the selected item by clicking on the cloud icon next to its name.
