When Apple started selling the Apple Watch, it intended to build special stores to sell the watch. These "micro-stores" were supposed to offer only the Apple Watch as such and especially the more luxurious and expensive variants, such as the various types from the Edition series. In the end, it happened, and Apple built three special stores around the world, where only smart watches and accessories were sold. However, shortly after that, Apple realized that it was not worth running these stores given the turnover they generated and the rental costs. So it is being canceled gradually, and the last one will be canceled in 3 weeks.

One of these stores was located in Paris's Galeries Lafayette and closed in January of last year. Another store was in the Selfridges shopping center in London and met the same fate as the previous one. The main reason for the closure was the extremely high costs, which definitely did not correspond to how many watches were sold in them. Another reason was also a change in the strategy with which Apple approaches its smartwatch.

The expensive Edition models have basically disappeared. In the first generation, Apple sold an extremely expensive gold variant, which in the second generation received a cheaper, but still exclusive ceramic design. Currently, however, Apple is slowly phasing out such exclusive models (ceramic Editions are not even available in all markets), so it makes no sense to maintain special stores at prominent addresses and sell only "classic" watches there.

It is for this reason that the last such store will close on May 13. It is located in the Isetan Shinjuku shopping area in Tokyo, Japan. After less than three and a half years, the saga of small specialized Apple Stores will come to an end.
