The native Safari browser has been facing considerable problems and declining popularity in recent years. Of course, this had to show itself once. The most used browser for a long time is, of course, Google Chrome, with Safari in second place. According to the latest data from StatCounter, Safari has been overtaken by Microsoft's Edge. However, as we have already mentioned, something similar could be expected. But is there any solution to this decline?

At the same time, it is appropriate to mention why Apple is actually dealing with similar troubles. Browsers built on Chromium are currently in the limelight - they boast great performance, efficiency, and the support of various add-ons, which are available in a large number, plays a large part in this. On the other hand, we have Safari, a browser based on a rendering engine called WebKit. Unfortunately, the Apple representative does not boast such a good book of accessories, while it also lags behind in terms of speed, which is unfortunately a disadvantage.

How to bring Safari back to its glory days

So how can Apple make its Safari browser more popular again? Right from the start, it is necessary to mention that it will definitely not be that easy, as the Californian company faces a number of obstacles, and above all, strong competition. In any case, the opinion began to spread among Apple users that it would not be harmful if Apple released its browser again on other operating systems, especially on Windows and Android. In theory, it makes sense. Many users own an Apple iPhone, but use a classic Windows computer as a desktop. In such a case, they are practically forced to use the Google Chrome browser or another alternative to ensure the synchronization of all data between the phone and the computer. If Apple opened Safari for Windows, it would have a better chance to increase the user base - in this case, the user could normally use the native browser on the phone and install it on Windows for synchronization.

But the question is whether it is not too late for something similar. As we mentioned above, many people have simply become accustomed to browsers from competitors, which means that changing their habits would definitely not be easy. It certainly wouldn't hurt if Apple finally cared about its browser and didn't neglect it unnecessarily. In fact, it's a shame that the world's most valuable company with unimaginable resources lags behind in such basic software as a browser. In addition, it is the absolute basis for today's Internet age.

Apple growers are looking for alternatives

Even some Apple users have started experimenting with other browsers and are turning away from Safari altogether. However, it should be noted that this is probably a negligible group. Even so, it is strange to observe the outflow of users to the competition, because the apple browser simply does not suit them anymore and its use is accompanied by various problems. Now we can only hope that Apple will focus on this problem and bring an adequate solution.

Safari has been talked about for a long time as the modern Internet Explorer. Understandably, the developers themselves who work on the browser do not like this. In February 2022, therefore, the developer Jennifer Simmons, which works on Safari and WebKit, took to Twitter to ask about specific issues that need to be addressed. Whether this is a harbinger of any improvement is a question. But we will still have to wait for some Friday for any changes. In any case, the WWDC developer conference in June is literally around the corner, during which new operating systems are revealed. Whether there are really any changes waiting for us, we could find out about them as early as next month.
