Many expected demand for this year's iPhones to be stronger than last year. Apparently, even Apple itself is surprised in the end, because it is additionally increasing its production capacity.

Apple has already contacted its supply chains to increase production capacity by around 10%. This increase should make it possible to produce about 8 million more iPhones than originally planned.

Directly one of the contacts in the supply chains commented on the situation as follows:

Autumn is busier than we expected. Apple was initially very conservative with production capacity orders. After the current increase, the number of produced pieces will be considerably higher, especially when compared to last year.

Not only analyst reports predict strong demand for the current iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max models. Paradoxically, interest in the last mentioned model is declining a bit, but the other two are making up for it.

Apple has broken the vicious cycle and is growing this year

Basically, every year we read news about how Apple is gradually slowing down the production of new iPhones. Often in a row of several months from the start of sales. However, no one usually knows for what reason.

We will probably never know whether weaker demand is to blame, or whether Apple is constantly managing production capacities throughout the life cycle and adapting everything to the market. However, the increase in demand goes against the well-established trends of the past years and is certainly positive news not only for the company itself.

The new models are especially popular because of their longer battery life and new cameras. The basic iPhone 11 has also been slightly cheaper than its predecessor, the iPhone XR.

Meanwhile, the media is speculating about the return of the very popular iPhone SE, this time in the form of the proven iPhone 7/8 design. However, there have already been many such reports, so it is necessary to take them with a grain of salt.
