When developing new products from Apple, extreme care is taken to maintain as much secrecy as possible. In addition, so that the final design is not known to some workers from the initial moment, for example, they bet on so-called prototypes, which are only a kind of test precursor of the final product. Quite interesting images of the prototype of the first generation Apple Watch are currently circulating on the Internet. They are encased in a unique case and resemble a push-button telephone or an iPod more than a watch.

The images of this prototype are taken care of by the user acting as @AppleDemoYT, who shared them on his Twitter. As the user himself writes, in this case the first Apple Watches are hidden in so-called Security Cases, whereby Apple wanted to protect the very design that the watch should offer in the end. In addition, if you look carefully in the gallery below, you can see a slightly different user interface of the system itself. Since this was a prototype of the first generation, it is quite possible that the images show a test predecessor of the original watchOS.

The author then writes on Twitter that the images show 38mm and 42mm variants. This is therefore likely why the safety cases vary so much. The most understandable reason appears to be that the relevant workers could immediately recognize which option they actually had in hand. According to AppleDemoYT, the cases were primarily used to disguise the design during shipping.
