At the very beginning, let's repeat to be sure which devices we can install the new operating system on. Except for the first iPhone and the first generation iPod touch, actually for all Apple devices. The catch comes only with the individual functions. Multitasking, AirPrint and VoiceOver will only be available to owners of the third and fourth generation iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod touch. AirPlay and Game Center also run only on these machines, and the second generation iPod touch is also supported.
Multitasking on the iPad
iOS 4.2 is an important update especially for tablets. The iPad will have the same operating system as the iPhone and iPod touch, so we will finally see multitasking and the device will become an even smarter and more productive device without reducing speed or draining the battery. In the App Store, we can therefore look forward to many new versions of many applications that developers had to modify for iOS 4.2.
Folders on iPad

AirPrint
AirPrint no longer only applies to the iPad, but also to the iPod touch and iPhone. It is a simple wireless printing of e-mails, photos, web pages or documents directly from these devices. You can print the image with just a few clicks and you don't need to go to the computer at all. All you need is a printer that will communicate with AirPrint.
AirPlay
Again, this is a wireless service. This time you will be able to stream video, music or pictures from your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Photos can be easily projected on your home TV and you can play your favorite song wirelessly on the speaker. AirPlay works great with the new Apple TV.
Find My iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
Think you're hearing this for the first time? Really. Apple only revealed today that in iOS 4.2 the Find My iPhone function will be freely available to users, which until now could only be used by customers with a paid MobileMe account. There's a catch though, Apple will only enable the service for those who own a fourth-generation iPhone 4, iPad, or iPod touch. And what is it about? An update for Apple TV 20G was also released shortly before 00:2. Now with iOS4.2, both video and audio AirPlay works on the ATV2G.

As for the tones, nothing to worry about, they are terrible. I don't understand why they won't enable SMS tones from MP3…
The search is simple, a word is entered in the search field at the top right and the search engine offers links in google or at the bottom of the list the searched words are displayed within the page.

It does the exact same thing to me. When trying to authorize the computer (or deauthorize) it says “We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-42032). There was an error in the iTunes Store. Please try again later". Apple support has not yet been able to give me any advice.

I have an Elgato DVB-S tuner with a CI slot - with Cryptoworks and watching HBO-HD upscaled from 1080 to 720p and streamed to the iPad via Airport Extreme WiFi is flawless! I got a new iPhone 3GS back from the fungl service (so far they always solved my complaint by replacing it with a new device), I uploaded the new iOS 4.2.1 to it (via DFU to be sure) and in a few hours it was just a brick. I'm really good. :-) And at the same time I saved it - only about 30 applications, a directory and emails, I couldn't even upload photos, videos, music, etc. to it. It just bit me and turned it off. It had a couple of attempts to start up again, but it didn't finish, then it started up when connected to iTunes, but it crashed again after disconnecting, then a few incomplete startups and finally the last successful startup, after which it finally died when unlocking the screen. Didn't even go to reset. ;-(
A little more about solving the error 42032 in iTunes. I also had this problem. I have iPhone 3GS, OS 4.2, iTunes 10.1 and windows xp. I solved it as follows. Try this procedure. Start iTunes, go to Edit, Preferences, Devices tab and give Reset Sync History. Then turn off iTunes. Start a command line using start, run and the cmd command. As the window starts, write: ipconfig /flushdns. Then start iTunes again, and data authorize the computer and it should go. I hope you can do it too

It is an iTunes 10.1.* error only and only on the Czech localization of MS Windows.
Other localizations and recent versions of Windows do not report this error and iTunes works OK!!!
Apple will not solve anything until there are enough people reporting the same error (you read that correctly, this was written to me by iTuneStoreSupport).
