Apple products still carry a kind of luxury stamp. They stand out not only in terms of design, but also work well and are easy to work with. This mainly applies to major products such as iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac or AirPods. But let's stick with the mentioned Macs. In this case, these are relatively popular work computers, to which Apple supplies its own mouse, trackpad and keyboard - specifically, the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard. Although the apple growers themselves are relatively satisfied with them, the competition views them completely differently.

A unique mouse from Apple

One of the biggest differences can be seen when comparing the classic mouse with the Magic Mouse. While slowly the whole world is using a uniform design, which is primarily intended to be comfortable to use, Apple is taking a completely different path. It is the Magic Mouse that has faced considerable criticism almost from the beginning and is slowly becoming unique in the world. Its design is rather inconvenient. In this sense, it is clear that the Cupertino giant certainly does not set trends.

The fact that the Magic Mouse is not even very popular among apple fans themselves says a lot. They use this mouse either very little, or rather not at all. Instead, it is more common to reach for a suitable alternative from a competitor, but most often you can get by directly with the trackpad, which, thanks to gestures, is also directly created for the macOS system. On the other hand, there are also times when the mouse wins outright. It can be, for example, gaming, or editing photos or videos. In such a case, it is advisable to have the most accurate and comfortable mouse possible, in which the Magic Mouse unfortunately falls short.

Trackpad and keyboard

As mentioned above, the Magic Trackpad can be considered the most popular mouse alternative among Apple users, mainly thanks to its gestures. After all, thanks to this, we can control the macOS system much more comfortably and speed up a number of processes. On the other hand, however, an interesting question is presented. If the trackpad is really so popular, why is there practically no alternative to it and isn't even used by the competition? It's all related to the already mentioned connection with the system itself, thanks to which we have a wide range of various gestures at our disposal.

Last but not least, we have the Apple Magic Keyboard. It's relatively comfortable to type on thanks to its low profile, but it's still not completely flawless. Many people criticize Apple for the absence of a backlight, which makes its use at night very unpleasant. Even if the positions of the keys themselves are easy to remember, there is no harm at all in seeing them in every situation. At its core, however, it does not differ much from the competition - except for one rather essential element. When Apple introduced the 24″ iMac (2021) with the M1 chip, it also showed the world a new Magic Keyboard with integrated Touch ID. In this case, it's rather strange that the competition hasn't been inspired by this move (yet), since it's an extremely intuitive and convenient way to unlock your computer. However, it is possible that there are a number of technical limitations in this area that complicate the arrival of such a gadget. The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID does not work with every Mac. In this case, it is necessary to have a device with an Apple Silicon chip to ensure maximum security.

Apple as an outsider

If we leave aside the popularity of the Magic Mouse, we can state that Apple users themselves have become quite accustomed to Apple's peripherals and are satisfied with them. But in this case, the competition practically ignores accessories from the Magic brand and forges its own path, which has proven itself very well over the past decade. Are you more comfortable with peripherals from Apple, or do you prefer competitive mice and keyboards?
