Samsung published its quarterly financial results a few days ago. Despite the drop in phone sales, for which analysts "blame" Apple, and the increased interest in its products, Samsung reported a profit of 5,1 billion dollars for the segment of the mobile division alone. He will also soon have to write off less than a billion dollars from the profit, namely 930 million, which he has to pay to Apple as compensation for damages caused by copying the design.

While such an amount could represent the annual profit of other companies, it is almost a pittance for Samsung. With an average profit of $56,6 million a day, Samsung must spend sixteen days' income to pay the damages. For Apple, this money is an even less significant amount, from the numbers from the penultimate quarter of Apple (the last one will be announced tonight), it can be calculated that only eight days are enough for those 930 million Apple. It is all the more obvious the motive of the Californian company, which in the court was not about money but rather about the principle and possible prohibition of sales and further copying.

Just a guarantee that Samsung will stop copying Apple products, wants to have Apple in a possible agreement with the South Korean company deliberate. What is clear, however, is that if the two sides do not come to an agreement and appear before the court again at the end of March, it will not matter so much about the fine assessed for one or the other side, but what other measures will be put into effect.
