We are only a week away from the introduction of the iPhone 12

For a long time now, we've been talking more and more often here about the arrival of a new generation of Apple phones, and we've looked several times at what the new pieces could boast of. The introduction of the iPhone traditionally takes place every year in September. This year, however, due to the currently ongoing pandemic, the deadline had to be moved, as companies from the supply chain are not able to work in normal mode. However, it was not yet clear when we will see the aforementioned performance.

iPhone 12 mockups and concept:

During today, you could read a much-awaited news in our magazine. The Californian giant announced the date of the upcoming keynote, which is of course expected to introduce the much-anticipated iPhone 12. The entire event will take place on October 13 at the Steve Jobs Theater at 19 p.m. our time. So let's quickly summarize the main news that the new Apple phone should boast of.

Apple has announced when it will introduce the new iPhone 12

The iPhone 12 should come in four versions and three sizes. Specifically, it is the iPhone 12 with a 5,4″ display, two 6,1″ models and then the largest variant with 6,7″. Models with 6,1″ and 6,7″ should be proud of the designation Pro, and therefore they will offer some extra benefits. If we look at the appearance, it is expected that Apple will return to the so-called "roots" and bring its "twelve" in a square design similar to the iPhone 4S or 5. All upcoming models are still expected to have a display with an OLED panel and 5G connection.

Macs with a T2 chip suffer from an unfixable security flaw

Newer Apple computers boast the Apple T2 security chip. This ensures significantly higher security of the entire device and takes care of, for example, disk encryption, securely stores Touch ID function data, ensures secure startup and many others. However, according to the latest information from a cybersecurity expert, the chip suffers from an unfixable security flaw.

This bug could allow an attacker to bypass the entire disk security, passwords and various verifications. But how is that possible? The aforementioned expert Niels Hofmans came up with the information on his own blog. The architecture of the chip as such is primarily to blame. This is because it is built on the Apple A10 processor and is therefore defenseless against the same abuse that checkm8 uses to jailbreak iOS devices.

The bug makes it possible to completely bypass the boot process of the SepOS operating system, which runs on the mentioned T2 chip, and thus gives the attacker direct access to the hardware. Under normal circumstances, the chip terminates all processes with a fatal error, the moment it detects any decryption attempt in DFU mode. Once the attacker manages to bypass security, he gains root rights (all options are unlocked). Fortunately, direct decryption of FileVault security is not possible. In any case, the attacker has a great opportunity to upload a keylogger to the device, which will record all the user's keystrokes and thus obtain the password in this way.

Apple's iPhone 12 launch page hides an easter egg

At the end of today's summary, we will take a look at the aforementioned presentation of the upcoming iPhone 12. On the website of the Californian giant, you can already find a page about the upcoming keynote, which, as already mentioned, will take place in exactly one week at 19 p.m. Moments after updating the website to Twitter discovered information that there is a hidden easter egg on the web in the form of a classic object in virtual reality.

If you'd like to try it out for yourself, just go to this apple events website and click on the month of October. This will trigger the mentioned easter egg and you will be able to view the date of the event in 3D, which is surrounded by gold to blue colored balls.
