On discussion forums, a discussion about iPhone status icons occasionally opens up. Status icons are displayed at the top and are used to quickly inform the user about the status of the battery, signal, Wi-Fi/Cellular connection, do not disturb, charging and others. But it can happen that you see an icon that you've never actually seen and you wonder what it actually means. Many apple growers have already encountered this kind of situation.

Unusual status icon and focus mode

It actually has a fairly simple explanation. With the arrival of the iOS 15 operating system, we have seen a number of rather interesting novelties. Apple brought changes to iMessage, redesigned the notification system, improved Spotlight, FaceTime or Weather and many others. One of the biggest innovations was the focus modes. Until then, only Do Not Disturb mode was offered, thanks to which users are not bothered by notifications or incoming calls. Of course, it was also possible to set that these rules do not apply to selected contacts. But it was not the best solution, and it was time to come up with something more complex – concentration modes from iOS 15. With them, everyone can set several modes, for example for work, sports, driving, etc., which can be different from each other. For example, in active work mode, you may want to receive notifications from selected applications and from selected people, while you do not want anything at all while driving.

It is therefore not surprising that concentration modes have met with decent popularity. Everyone can thus set the modes that suit them the most. In this case, we come back to the original question - What can that unusual status icon mean? It is very important to mention that you can set your own status icon for each concentration mode, which is then displayed in the upper part of the display. Just as the moon is displayed during normal Do Not Disturb, scissors, tools, sunsets, guitars, snowflakes and others can be displayed while concentrating.
