Probably most iPhone owners have registered the O2TVGuide application, which will display the TV program, and which I already mentioned here on Jablíčkář. But many of you certainly did not register that another iPhone application appeared on the Appstore, this time called O2TV (without the word Guide). And how do I like this app?

It is also a bit of a mystery to me why this application appeared on the Appstore. Telefonica O2 Czech Republic, a.s. is listed as the publisher this time, while Undo Unlimited is listed as the publisher for the O2TV Guide application. But it's not a battle of competing apps, the O2TV iPhone app was also created by Undo Unlimited. So probably Telefonica didn't like not being listed as the publisher of the app.

It could be said that O2TV should have been the next version of O2TVGuide, as there has been a minor modification of the user interface, which is definitely for the better. On the main screen, you can see the programs that are currently playing on your selected stations. So it is no longer necessary to click on one station after another in order to know what to watch. If you are interested in another program on a given station, you can click on the station and then possibly switch the days on which you want to view the program (you can watch the TV program up to 10 days in advance). The original title of the show is also included on the main listing, which I really welcome.

After clicking on the program, you can see, for example, the length of the film, the country of origin or the year of production. A detailed description of the program is also a matter of course, possibly with a preview. The film's cast, director, production or scriptwriter are often not missing either. However, you will now see the interesting option of program notification - in addition to sending a recommendation to a friend by email, here for the first time we also see the option of SMS program notification. This service is completely free for customers of all mobile operators in the Czech Republic!

The adjustment of which stations we want in the listing on the main page has also been improved. There are new on/off buttons, which really makes the setting much easier. Unfortunately, even this version has a big minus for me. If I want to look at the rating of a film on ČSFD or IMDB, this page opens for me in Safari, not in some internal web browser. I hope that they will eventually fix even this little thing and bring this excellent application to the end. I would also welcome the possibility of downloading the TV program for offline viewing, but I don't expect anything like that in the near future. Anyway, iPod Touch users would definitely appreciate such a feature!
