The cover of the latest issue of Vanity Fair features a photo of Taylor Swift, who is known in the music world not only as one of the most successful singers, but also as a famous artist using her influence to improve the conditions for all musicians, at least when it comes to streaming services.

In an interview with the editor of the magazine, she mentioned that in the future she would like to turn her fame into a force to help the less fortunate, similar to Oprah or Angelina Jolie. Improving the situation of musicians providing their work for listening on streaming services is a long way from the adoption of several African children, but it is still a positive contribution to society.

When Taylor Swift wrote at four in the morning letter to Apple criticizing their intention not to pay artists for music played on the Apple Music trial, she recalled how many people reacted after her music was pulled from Spotify. At the time, many people thought that it was a profit-seeking move with no relevance for those to whom the conditions of society were really not very favorable.

“The contracts just arrived to my friends and one of them sent me a screenshot of one of them. I read the 'zero percent compensation for copyright holders' clause. (…) I was worried that I would be seen as someone who just keeps talking and complaining about something that no one else is really complaining about," said Taylor Swift.

But her concerns turned out to be of little importance when she made a significant contribution to Apple's decision change the terms for musicians working with Apple Music. Apple even surprised her by treating her like she was “the voice of the creative community that they really care about. And I found it quite ironic that a multi-billion dollar company responded to criticism with humility, and a start-up with no cash flow responded to criticism like a corporate machine," hinted the popular Spotify singer without specific reference.

Since the music of Taylor Swift after the change of conditions on Apple Music discovered, that chapter seems to be closed. Now it remains to be seen if Apple Music's current model is sustainable for the music industry, and if not, celebrity voices won't be silenced by concerns.
