Yes, we write about card rogue-lites quite often in our tips for interesting games. The genre itself is relatively young, but thanks to the huge success of the revolutionary Slay the Spire, more than one ambitious developer is digging into it. And thanks to the large number of games, from time to time a really original thing breaks out among them. Such is the case with Poker Quest, which has just been released in early access. In it, you will fight against monsters in a fair fantasy world, but your success will also be determined by a deck of ordinary poker cards.

Of course, Poker Quest borrows basic mechanics from its more famous predecessors. This way, you walk on branched maps where you meet enemies, various help stops and big bosses who will check how well you are doing during the game. In the process, you build your own deck of items and spells. However, in addition to the cards in your hand and the deck, Poker Quest also features a deck of cards in the center of the screen from which you build the strongest possible poker hands.

The developers from the Playsaurus studio themselves compare such a random element to rolling dice in another the great Dicey Dungeons roguelite. But that's where the similarities end. A deck of cards is not as random as a handful of dice. As you play, you will naturally learn to calculate the ever-changing probability with which the card you desire could arrive. At the same time, the game's footage is breathtaking, if we also take into account the fact that it is still in early access. You can choose from seventeen heroes and during the game you will come across thousands of unique items and hundreds of different enemies. If you want to feed your inner gambler, but also feel like playing a real game, Poker Quest will certainly come in handy.
