It's been more than 1 days since Apple last introduced a new MacBook Pro. The one with the Retina display was updated last year, but it differed little from the original one, introduced in the summer of 500. Apple has big news ready for the end of this year.
The new MacBook Pro with Retina will be thinner, bring a touch strip with functional keys and more powerful and efficient graphics processors, summarizes acquired information Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, who drew from several of his sources, traditionally very well informed.
In Apple's laboratories, they have been testing the new form of MacBook Pro since the beginning of the year, and although it will probably not be ready for the September keynote (to be held on September 7), its release can be expected in the following months.
According to Gurman, the most significant innovation will be the secondary display, which will appear as a touch strip with function keys above the current hardware keyboard. The standard function buttons will be replaced by a touch surface on which different buttons with specific functionality can be displayed for each application.
As previously reported by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, it will be thinner, brighter and sharper LED technology, thanks to which Apple wants to simplify access to various shortcuts that are often known (and used) only by more experienced users. In iTunes, for example, buttons can appear for controlling music, in a word processor for copying and pasting text.
Additionally, according to Gurman, it will allow Apple to add new buttons via software updates without having to release an entirely new computer for a new key. In addition to the mentioned secondary display, one more new "button" appears. For the first time, Apple computers will feature Touch ID, the fingerprint scanning technology previously known from iPhones and iPads.
Touch ID is supposed to appear right next to the new LED display and will allow users to log in to their account more easily and potentially use Apple Pay on Mac.
After years, the body of the MacBook Pro is also to undergo a transformation. It will be slightly thinner, but not tapered like we saw with the MacBook Air or the new 12-inch MacBook. Overall, the chassis should be slightly smaller than before and the edges will not be so sharp. The trackpad will be wider.
Gurman also added interesting news for more demanding users, as he says that Apple is planning to equip the MacBook Pro with high-performance chips from AMD. The new "Polaris" graphics processors are more than 20 percent thinner and more energy efficient than their predecessors, making them a perfect fit for Apple's MacBook Pro. Who will supply the core graphics chips is uncertain, but so far Intel has done so.
In terms of connectivity, it will also arrive in the MacBook Pro USB-C, through which you can charge, transfer data or connect displays. Apple already has USB-C on the 12-inch MacBook. Also in Cupertino, they are considering that they will produce the MacBook Pro in attractive gold, space gray and silver colors, so far only a uniform silver color has been available.
The main thing is that the macbook will be thinner again. I felt relieved. Even so that it is easier to repair, or has more USB ports. They could still cancel the 3.5mm jack.
But in order not to criticize, I don't think the functional display is a bad idea. If they got something like this in an external keyboard, I would consider it.
I'm very curious about it.. I was personally hoping for a 14 and 16 inch variant that would fit the 12 inch macbook better. I am curious about the use of the touch display. Personally, I use most of the keys that are located in this place, so I hope that the ability to control these functions will be preserved. It would also be quite useful to have a dedicated graphics card even in the smaller model and the functionality of the trackpad and apple pencil.
I was also hoping that Apple could have a compact 13" and 15" Air (retina) model series and a 14" and 16" Pro series, such laptops could easily be a little thicker, last longer on battery and 16″ have a 4K display, which would be useful when editing UHD video.
It's funny that the illustration shows Spotify on the new touch panel :)
Well, since it's not an official image of Apple, but some design by Martin Hajek, even if there was redtube, it doesn't matter at all.
For me it is still unnecessarily thick/heavy, I would like them to enlarge the "macbook" to at least 13″ (14″ would be great). Now I have a macbook air 2011 and unfortunately the keyboard is starting to wear out... so I hope it will last before they introduce something because I really don't want to buy an air that still has the same design and an outdated display.
AMD = it compiles under it without any worries except for a big ho*no :-(
It's all fine, but considering that I have a MacBook Pro in a stand and use an external monitor, I would especially appreciate it if they made a keyboard that was inflated like this. :D
Many have already tried this and it didn't work. I don't think it will be a success at Apple either. I would rather see room for improvement in graphics and ports.
So I will absolutely not use this. Everything is covered by gestures or icons in the panel, so why fiddle with the keyboard. But it's nice :)
I find this very unfortunate. As a developer, I use the F keys quite often, and here I will miss the tactile feedback that allows me to press them blindly.
That's why I had to sacrifice all the other news, better HW and other things that come with the new version and buy the almost a year and a half old 2015 version. I don't regret the purchase and I probably won't, but it's still a bit of a shame that I was forced to buy an older version by a pointless function instead of waiting for a new and better one.
