Apple has started shipping the new Macbook Air to the first customers, which means it's gotten its hands on the company as well iFixit, which immediately took it apart and shared the information with the world. In the article, they describe some of the new things they noticed during disassembly and also focused on how well the Macbook Air can be repaired.

The first thing the editors pointed out is the new type of keyboard, which Apple first used on the 16-inch Macbook Pro and has now made its way to the cheaper Air. "The new type of keyboard is much more reliable than the older 'Butterfly' keyboard with a silicone barrier," says the iFixit report. The change in keyboard type is not a surprise, Apple received a lot of criticism for the previous version. In addition to the keyboard, they also noticed a new arrangement of cables between the motherboard and the trackpad. Thanks to this, the trackpad can be replaced much more easily. At the same time, it makes it easier to change the battery, because there is no need to move the motherboard.

Among the pluses, there are also components such as the fan, speakers or ports that are easily accessible and can be easily replaced. Among the minuses, we find that the SSD and RAM memory are soldered to the motherboard, so they cannot be replaced, which is still a significant negative for a laptop at this price. Overall, the new Macbook Air scored one more point than the previous generation. So it has 4 points out of 10 on the repairability scale.
