Recently, there has been a lot of talk among Apple fans about the arrival of a new chip from the Apple Silicon family, which should be the successor to the current M1. However, it is currently not clear whether the new product will be labeled M1X or M2. Anyway, some sources make the whole situation slightly clearer. With fresh information now comes the popular leaker known as @Dylandkt, according to which Apple is going to use the M2 chip already in the first half of next year, specifically for the MacBook Air.

Would you like a MacBook Air in the same colors as the iMac?

To make matters worse, the expected MacBook Air should come in multiple color combinations, similar to the 24″ iMac. At the same time, he adds that the M1X chip will be reserved for more powerful (high-end) Macs such as the MacBook Pro, or even for larger and far more powerful iMacs. In addition, the same information was previously shared by one of the most famous leakers, Jon Prosser, according to which the new generation of MacBook Air will see a design change, will be available in the same colors as the mentioned iMac and will offer an M2 chip.

However, the naming of the upcoming chips and their options is still not clear, and no one knows how Apple will actually decide. In any case, the relevant information was provided by the Bloomberg portal, which shed light on possibilities of upcoming Macs with Apple Silicon and thus outlined their possible performance.

Leaker Dylandkt's prediction has been questioned by a number of pundits, so for now it is not at all certain how the finals will turn out. Nevertheless, we have to admit that the leaker has a rather successful history. In the past, he managed to reveal, for example, the use of the M1 chip in the iPad Pro, which he predicted 5 months before the presentation itself. He also talked about the 24″ iMac, which, according to him, will replace the smaller model and offer M1 instead of the M1X chip.
