In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Movies from Universal Pictures will be available online as early as 17 days after release

New films are usually first broadcast in cinemas, where they have their so-called premiere. As you all know, after the aforementioned premiere, there is a huge waiting period before the given film goes on sale on a classic medium or arrives in online services. Fortunately, that should change now. The company Universal Pictures, which during its existence managed to take care of the production of several "A" films in the most diverse genres, today came up with a great news that will especially please lovers of their work.

In the case of Universal films, we had to wait almost three months, namely 75 days, from the premiere for the film, which should now change. The original contracts with AMC Entertainment, which provides the aforementioned cinemas, were to blame. Due to the current contract, it was not possible to release the film earlier. According to the magazine Wall Street Journal Universal had previously released the film Trolls: The World Tour first to the Internet without being shown in theaters, for which AMC threatened to end the cooperation. Paradoxically, the current global pandemic brought us the light of hope.

Due to the implementation of strict measures, cinemas around the world have been closed. It can be expected that thanks to this, Universal was able to get a much better contract with AMC, which allows the release of the film worldwide as early as 17 days after the premiere. New films will therefore arrive in iTunes less than three weeks after their premiere, where we will be able to purchase or rent them. But here we encounter the first snag. While a regular movie rental costs around five dollars (in the US), Universal demands four times as much from users for new films. Fortunately, this barrier would not necessarily be a problem. We could rent the movie with the whole family or a group of friends and enjoy it in the comfort of our own home. And how are you doing? Do you go to the cinema or do you prefer to watch a movie at home?

The popularity of the iPhone has skyrocketed in China

We already mentioned the current global pandemic that has plagued the entire planet Earth since the beginning of this year. At a certain point, we even got into a crisis where many businesses had to stop production and some people found themselves completely out of work. For this reason, it is understandable that sales of phones and electronics in general have frozen, so to speak, in the first quarter of 2020. According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research the second quarter brings much better prospects.

The apple phone from Apple can now without a doubt be described as the product with the greatest increase in popularity in China. Although Apple was drowning in negative numbers in the first quarter of the market there, it has currently managed to bounce back from the bottom and the year-on-year increase in sales amounts to 32 percent. We can mainly thank the iPhone 11. It is the main driver of sales, which offers perfect performance, great battery life and a lower price tag compared to flagship models. In connection with the price, the Californian giant hit the nail on the head with the release of the iPhone SE.

The new MacBook Air is just around the corner: Will we see an Apple Silicon processor?

Today, reports of an updated MacBook Air started flooding the internet. New certifications for a 49,9 Wh battery with a capacity of 4380 mAh have recently appeared in China and Denmark, which we could find in the upcoming Apple laptop with the designation Air. In these countries, it is necessary that new hardware is first tested and certified before being introduced to the market.

According to the information mentioned above, we can expect that this battery is intended for the new MacBook Air. The current model also offers 49,9 Wh. We can see the change only in a different name. In previous generations, the accumulator was labeled A1965, while the new part can be found under the name A2389. At the moment, of course, no one knows whether we will see the new "Air" in a matter of weeks or months. What is relatively more interesting is that this upcoming model could be fitted with a chip from the Californian giant's workshop.

On the occasion of the opening keynote for this year's developer conference WWDC 2020, we saw the official presentation of the Apple Silicon project. The Apple company plans to get rid of its dependence on chips from Intel, and therefore comes up with its own solution for its computers and laptops. At the end of the presentation itself, we heard that the first Mac, which will be fitted with an Apple Silicon processor, should arrive at the end of this year. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already commented on the whole situation. According to him, the unveiling of the improved MacBook Air with the aforementioned chip awaits us this year.

As it seems, the pieces of the puzzle are slowly starting to fit together. However, how it will turn out in the final is of course still unclear and we will have to wait for the official information until the possible performance. If we were to see a MacBook Air with an Apple chip, we could expect significantly more performance, lower battery consumption and significantly lower heat output.
