Apple decided to revive the 5-inch iPhone because people "just love smaller phones." In addition, the iPhone SE presented today relies on a proven form, as it is practically an iPhone 6S, in whose body the iPhone XNUMXS is hidden with its powerful internals.

Apple vice president Greg Joswiak, who introduced the new iPhone, even stated that "the vast majority of our customers prefer iPhones with a larger display," but since Apple sold 30 million four-inch phones last year, the Californian company felt the need to accommodate some customers.

For many, the four-inch iPhone also represents the gateway to the world of Apple, in which price also plays a role. The iPhone SE is currently the most powerful four-inch phone on the market, thanks to the fact that competitors have mostly abandoned this size, and at the same time it is not as expensive as the "six" iPhones.

However, the iPhone SE takes almost most of its components from them. In the body from 2013, when the iPhone 5S would be introduced, the A9 chip with the M9 co-processor beats again, enabling the "Hey Siri" function, and the 12-megapixel camera not only takes great photos (including Live Photos), but also takes 4K video. All this has been the prerogative of large iPhones until now. But four inches are coming back into play.

Apple has also made a few slight surface modifications to the original design "that so many people can't afford." The body of the iPhone SE is made of sandblasted aluminum, and the beveled edges with a matte finish are complemented by a color-coordinated stainless steel logo. As expected, the smaller iPhone also comes in four colors – silver, space grey, gold and rose gold.

The smaller iPhone may only have a four-inch display, but it's certainly not low-end. Thanks to the aforementioned A9 processor, the iPhone SE has a CPU twice as fast and a GPU three times faster than its predecessor, the 5S. It also goes side by side with the latest iPhone 6S in terms of camera. Fortunately, Apple decided not to cut corners on the smaller iPhone in terms of hardware. On the contrary, it added NFC to make Apple Pay work.

The only thing he allowed himself to leave out is the second generation of Touch ID, which is faster and more reliable. Unfortunately, the iPhone SE has to settle for the first generation and it doesn't even have a barometer. And – as expected – the SE model does not have a 3D Touch display. The latter remains exclusive to the iPhone 6S. After all, even the new iPad Pro doesn't have 3D Touch.

As for the battery, Apple promises at least the same durability as the iPhone 6S, but in some respects it should - at least on paper - easily attack the values of the iPhone 6S Plus, for example when using the Internet.

In the Czech Republic, new iPhones will be available to order from March 29, and the cheapest iPhone SE can be purchased for 12 crowns. Apple thus sets a very aggressive price that could certainly appeal to many people. Even less pleasant is the fact that Apple continues to keep the lowest capacity at 990 GB. The higher, 16GB version costs 64 crowns. The arrival of the iPhone SE also means that the iPhone 16S is no longer being sold.
