It is widely expected that Apple will introduce the new iPad Pro during October, along with new products from the Mac product line. As far as the new iPads are concerned, in recent months there has been various information about what news we can look forward to. The server came in this morning 9to5mac with a report that allegedly comes from very well-informed sources, and in which there is a list of the biggest news that Apple has prepared for us.

Specific mentions of the news were already in the code of the currently tested iOS 12.1 beta. Now there has been confirmation of what was expected and some additional information. What is currently known is that the new iPad Pros will once again arrive in two sizes and two types of equipment (Wi-Fi and LTE/WiFi). Information has recently appeared that each variant will offer only two memory versions, not three, as we have been used to in recent years.

New iPad Pro versions should bring Face ID to the tablet segment as well. So there were many studies circulating on the web showing iPads with cutouts. However, according to the latest information, the new iPad Pro will not have a cutout. Although the display frames will be minimized, they will still be wide enough to fit the Face ID module with all its components. A completely frameless design would also be a significant ergonomic mistake, so the mentioned design is logical. However, thanks to the reduction of the bezels, we could see an increase in the size of the displays while maintaining the same size of the iPad's body - that is, exactly what happened in the case of iPhones.

The source of the 9to5mac server also confirmed that Face ID in the new iPads will offer support for unlocking the device even in landscape mode, which is great news considering the way tablets are used. It is not entirely clear if this news is tied to specific hardware changes or if it is just a few added lines of code.

Probably the most surprising thing about the entire report is the confirmation of the presence of a USB-C port. It should replace the traditional Lightning, and for a purely pragmatic reason – the new iPad Pros should be able to transfer images (via USB-C) up to 4K resolution with HDR support. For these needs, there is a brand new control panel in the software that will allow the user to manage the resolution settings, HDR, brightness and more.

With the arrival of new iPads, we should also expect a new generation of Apple Pencil, which should work similarly to AirPods, so it should automatically pair with the nearest device. This should make it easier to connect to multiple devices at the same time (the Apple Pencil will not need to be paired by plugging it into the device). It can be expected that the second generation will also offer changes in hardware, but the source does not mention those specifics.

The last novelty is the presence of an innovative magnetic connector for connecting keyboards and other accessories. The new connector should be on the back of the iPad and will be quite different from its predecessor. This also includes completely new accessories that will be compatible with the new product. So we can expect a new version of the Smart Keyboard and other interesting things that Apple (and other manufacturers) will prepare for their new product.
