In April, Apple showed us a brand new tablet, which is of course the well-known iPad Pro. It received a drastic increase in performance thanks to the use of the M1 chip, so it now theoretically has the same performance as, for example, last year's MacBook Air. But it has one catch, which has been talked about for some time now. We are, of course, talking about the iPadOS operating system. This greatly limits iPad Pro users and practically does not allow them to fulfill the potential of the device itself. In addition, it has now been pointed out that the system limits the operating memory that applications can use. That is, individual applications cannot use more than 5 GB of RAM.

This was discovered thanks to an app update Procreate. It is designed for creating art and has now been fully optimized for the new iPad Pro. This program limits the maximum number of layers, according to the operating memory of the given device. While until now the maximum number of layers was set to 91 on "Pročka", it has now increased to only 115. The same limitation also applies to versions with 1TB/2TB storage, which offer 8GB instead of the standard 16GB of operating memory. Individual applications can therefore use a maximum of approximately 5 GB of RAM. If they exceed this limit, the system automatically turns them off.

Therefore, although the new iPad Pro has greatly improved in terms of performance, developers are unable to transfer this fact to their applications, which subsequently affects users. Above all, the operating memory can come in handy for those who, for example, work with photos or videos. Come to think of it, these people are exactly the group that Apple is targeting with devices like the iPad Pro. So at the current stage, we can only hope that the expected iPadOS 15 will bring a number of improvements to help with this problem. Of course, we would like to see this professional tablet with the bitten apple logo improve on the multitasking side and make full use of its performance.
