The new iPad Pro is a great machine. The bloated hardware is somewhat held back by the limited software, but overall it's a top-notch product. Apple has changed the design considerably in the current generation, which now resembles the old iPhones from the 5/5S era. However, the new design together with the extremely thin thickness of the device means that the body of the new iPads is not as durable as previous versions. Especially when bending, as shown in several videos on YouTube in recent days.

It appeared on JerryRigEverything's YouTube channel last week test durability of the new iPad Pro. The author had a smaller, 11″ iPad at his disposal and tried the usual series of procedures on it. It turns out that the iPad's frame is metal except for one place. This is the plastic plug on the right side through which wireless charging of the Apple Pencil takes place. It must be made of plastic, because you cannot charge wirelessly through metal.

As for the resistance of the display, it is made of relatively thin glass, it reached level 6 on the resistance scale, which is standard for phones and tablets. On the other hand, the camera cover, which is supposed to be made of "sapphire crystal", performed relatively poorly, but it is significantly more prone to scratches (grade 8) than classic sapphire (resistance level 6).

However, the biggest problem is the structural strength of the entire iPad. Due to its thinness, the internal arrangement of components and the reduced resistance of the sides of the frame (due to the microphone perforation on one side and the perforation for wireless charging on the other), the new iPad Pro can be bent relatively easily, or break through. Thus, a situation similar to the Bendgate affair, which accompanied the iPhone 6 Plus, is repeated. As such, the frame is not strong enough to prevent it from bending, so the iPad can "break" even in the hand, as demonstrated in the video.

After all, some readers of the foreign server also complain about the durability of the tablet MacRumors, who shared their personal experiences on the forum. A user who goes by the name Bwrin1 even shared a photo of his iPad Pro, which bent while being carried in a backpack. However, it is a question of how specifically the tablet was handled and whether it was not weighed down by other objects in the backpack. Either way, the problem doesn't seem to be as widespread as it was with the iPhone 6 Plus.

Even the second-generation Apple Pencil didn't pass the durability test, which is also said to be relatively fragile, especially around half its length. Breaking it into two parts is as challenging as breaking a classic ordinary pencil.
